I have done so so therefore it is not impossible. Minimum wage in the UK is around £5.50 for 19 yr olds or something like that. It is more than sufficient to get by on. One days work can pay for a weeks food if you are taking your situation seriously, in the UK however, nobody bothers, as it's jsut easier to claim job seekers allowance.

Does your job have health insurance? You don't need that you need to talk to your manager about a raise. See how stupid that sounds? Tips are one of the benefits of working in the service industry You know where it says that? In the job description.

Well I was a delivery driver and I quit because you do loose money because people think like you. You don't make minimum wage, where I live if you make tips you can be paid as little as 3.25 an hour. I actually worked at a nice place and made 5.00 but it sucks when everyone else around you makes 8.

i delivered for pizza hut on one of those death trap mopeds for about a year. it was an ace job! just driving about town, smoking, taking little breaks on the road...sure it sucks when you don't get tipped but i got a wage, and the shop paid for the petrol and the bike.

loads of times i've delivered to flats that practically had weed smoke billowing out the door when they answered, and a couple of times i've stayed and smoked a joint with them, it's great banter! i've had the cable guy and the gas salesman smoking joints in my flat before, door-to-door always has little adventures.

potking you should've invited him in! or said you had friends coming round to excuse the mammoth amount of food haha

Just feel inclined to share a store with you. My cousin was once busted for trafficking 42 whole outdoor plants...LONG STORY....Anyways, he lands a gig with a local pizzeria and ends up getting pulled over by the same criminal in blue. Like the third question into being pulled over...officer heroboy asks" so how much dope u got this time pipehead"...Little did the cop know he was being recorded by his own cruiser and my cousins recorder. He got poped for like an 1/8th of weed. First trip into court...they dismissed the charges.....

The officer listed his probably cause as " a overwhelming pungent order coming from car"...Not only does an 1/8 not smell that bad no matter how potent...but when you have 6 fucking whole pizzas and over 80 wings in a FORD ESCORT...what smells more...pizza and wings ( and a lot) or a 1/8th of weed....RIGHT,....almost 7 years later...Officer Heroboy...Is doing a FEDERAL BID FOR KIDDIE PORN.....shame shame shame :)

I'm actually going to have to ask you to elaborate on that, i'm too baked to follow. health insurance was not provided nor needed and i never gave it a thought.

What I'm trying to say is delivery drivers take the job knowing they are making most of there money in tips. If everyone thought like you, noone would tip, so noone would take a job delivering pizzas. IDK about in britian, but in america it's considered a common courtesy to tip someone when they provide you with a service. If you don't want to tip, then go pick that shit up from the store. What you have to realize is the food service industry is full of employees with questionable morale. I've nevr spit in anyones' food, and I've never knowingly delivered anything that's been tampered with, but that stuff happens, especially to the people who don't tip. If you never tip, and order delivery often, you've proably eaten someone elses pee.

That being said, I've jacked the shit out of this dudes thread, so if you want to continue this debate IM me.

This is obviously a cultural difference. Mailmen make pretty good money here in the states and it's not expected nor is it acceptable to tip a mail man. When I was a paper boy I used to get tips. Not great but that was back in the day when paper boys made way below minimum wage and rode their bikes at 4 in the morning to deliver. It's expected here in the states that you tip your pizza delivery guy/girl. You don't tip the fedex guy because he makes about $22.00/hr. There is a big difference between mail/paper delivery and service jobs like waiters and pizza delivery folk.;-)

if u dont tip u are a prick.mail man get a SALARY!u dumbfuck.paper boys atleast get a decent hourly.there are jobs where ur income is based off of tips!u are ignorant.anyone who doesnt tip there servers or pizza guys ATLEAST 15% can jump off a cliff because your obviously not well raised and a waste to society.im pretty sure in the uk there are plenty of jobs that DEPEND on tips.im a server.my check average about 12.00 dollars a week.so FUCK YOU is u dont tip or dont tip accordingly.and if u cant afford to tip DONT go out to eat or order pizza.

When I'm @ a resteraunt or something I start with the server getting 20% - no shit, they deserve that if they are balls to the walls tendering to all my needs, especially when you bring in a platoon of offspring. From then on if they do anything that pisses me off, it's a 5% infraction. Contrary to popular belief, minimum wage jobs builds character. You may not realize it at the time, but later on it will become obvious if you have any self-realization. Minimum wage should be a stepping stone, not a long term way of life. However, some people, I hate to say it, aren't capable of anything beyond it. Considering that, the wages should be commensurate with factors such as inflation and geographic area. Fuck IM high, low rider 2 is quite good.

It does indeed seem cultural. In the UK we don't often tip, as we see no reason, so now they just stick a 109% manadatory tip onn the bill these days.

I refuse to tip to subsidize a company not paying a worker accordingly, if they are not getting by on their wage or salary. In the UK we have just passed law(well not "just") that now makes it illegal for an employer to make up a minimum wage by using tips.

And as i state, i don't care what their employers job descriptions tells the pizzaa boy, of course it tells the pizza boy to live off tips, they want to be as greedy and profitable as is possible, it makes no difference to the fact that he has just performed the most basic, simple, mundane of tasks, and he does on no way warrant a tip. If he has peddled a bike 15 miles through the snow at 2 in the moring, then yes, i will tip him, but not for simply doing his job.

50 cent tip? what a douche bag. i ordered pizza the other day, it was 13 bucks and i gave the delivery chick 22 bucks.....please follow my example....people that dont tip piss me off.
