Pit bulls

i havent ever owned a pit, but a good friend of the family breeds staffordshire terriers
cute dogs,

heres my suggestions if she is a good fit.

a crate,
lots of exercise
good food
lots of love
and toys:)

dont underestimate the chewing, use a crate for when youre not at home, dont use a crate for when they are bad, it creates a negative enforcement of what a crate should be, which is a safe place to sleep when youre not a home and to chew toys.

A dog is what you make it. I took a DOG on the shelters kill list due to viciousness, now it licks my face every time I see it. If you treat it like shit it will bite the shit out of you

This is great advice. I have a staffordshire. A blue and a killer chuawawa. The need structure. You don't ever want a strong dog, male or female to be Alpha.
Structure and discipline in the 1st year will make any dog great. Positive reinforcement and crate training. The theory is that dogs who never have a chance to misbehave ( chewing up shit, accidents, getting into garbage ec) won't learn those habits. And believe it or not punishing physically is useless, the dog still learns that doing a bad behavior creates attention from its owner.

Also. I wouldn't let the pup chew on anybody. Makes her thinking that's its ok to put its mouth around humans. A simple correction will stop this if you nip it in the bud now.

Corrections are easy. A simple light poke in the chops with an audible sound. Fingers snap. Or te famous dog whisper phssssss. Eventually if she's doing something wrong all you will need to do is make the noise you as a family agree on. And you won't need to poke.

Btw I raises guide dogs for the blind for many years. Would train German shepards. Labs and lab mixes for 9 months until they were tested for active guide dog duty. If you have any question shoot me a reply.

My lil sis has had a blue pit like dankstas for about 8 yrs. hands down the sweetest dog ive ever met or seen. He is 90lbs of love.
Ive never heard it bark one time. She hung a xmas bell on her front door when he wants to go out he walks over and hits the bell.
When she says movie time he runs and jumps on the couch and sits up like a person and wont move to the movie is over lol.
In the summer she has to put sunglasses on him or he wont go outside lol

Awesome. I can imagine a sunglasses rockin blue pot.

Bottom line pits can be good and bad with the inbreeding of these breeds of dogs chances are BAD all puppies are cute and adorable but what many owners fail to realize that puppy is short lived as in 6 months - year later there not as cute..
the truth is there unpredictable and when they do turn on whom ever usually its fatal

when choosing a pet one must decide what they want,, what its really needed for.
A companion , lap dog, herd protecting dog etc
Everyone can say there harmless or they just get a bad rap .. or one of the best is its the owners truth is statistics prove other wise there is case after case of family pits turning on there own being there owner or there children thems are facts no BS
and this is why this breed is being outlawed in many states and provinces in North America and yes thanks to human interference in expressing certain traits from generations of cross breeding , and inbreeding to what thy are today we are to blame

Are pit bulls the toughest dog out there not even close , are they the smartest dog out there ?? Again not even close
i come from a german background and with that said family has had Rotti's bred rotti's for hundreds of years i remember growing up and any rotti that showed aggression was put down immediately.. there is no room for it with valuable live stock, and family children ,,etc
today in my geological area there are issues with Grizzlies , cougars , wolfs , and coyotes i picked a breed that can take care of business other then my Mark V
i choose BOZ dogs again they around family they are working dogs and such are used for working dogs protection of my live stock and at 200 plus pounds they do a perfect job for any task of protecting

Your pups are gorgeous... I wish I could train her to sense hypoglycemia. My step son was just diagnosed with type one diabetes. Any tips on that?

She knows the word no and sskk sound for biting...I see guilt in her face already when she poops in her den. Shes getting better..Im exhausted from following her around but its a must right now. I reacted the other day when she attacked the big dog maliciously and smacked her on the butt. She didnt really respond to that at all. I understand these dudes were bred for fighting so they still have that instinct to attack dogs... (whats your take on that?) I reacted as nurturing mother for the big dog...I know it was wrong. Shes pretty mellow overall ... shes wicked smart already
