So this is my first grow and these babies are 20 days in since germination, 17 under the light.

Seeds - Dutch Passion - White Widow

Mix- Premier Grow Mix HP, Soilless mix, # 4, High porosity growing medium.

Watering- at first I was watering every day, have just started(yesterday) to go to every-other day after some reading here. Using tap water that is left to stand. I have not tested PH but water PH is supposed to be very neutral in our area.

Light- 1000 watt HPS - Yes, I know it's too much for them right now but the budget is tight(light was free), I started the light about 4 ' high and then brought it down over the course of a few days to around 24" where it sits now(has been at this distance for about a week). Going with 18/6 .

Ventilation - Have a fan rigged up blowing out the top of the closet into the attic, have a fan gently blowing into the room- the plants rustle ever so slightly.

Temp- Not sure on ambient temp, but a gauge right within the plants reads 28C (82 F). It drops down quite a bit at night, down to around 18/19 C (64 F).

Nutes - Following "Keep it Simple Drain to Waste Program" using 3 parts - "Flora Gro", "FloraMicro" "FloraBloom"- Instructions provide specific measurements which i'm following. Currently mixing it at the "growth" ratio.

Questions-

- One Plant has a dead leaf, What is the possible cause? Reason for concern?
- Little bit of yellow blotchy discoloration on a leaf, cause ?
- Some leaves are folding in, deforming, sagging, is this from excessive watering?
- Should I water with straight water every few days? Instructions are not perfectly clear on this.
- Once I mix my nutes in with the water how long is the water/nute mix good for? Does the water "go bad", How often do I need to make a fresh batch?
- Is the temp drop at night too much?
- How is the light distance?, they seem to be growing out but not up in the last few days, they are only around 5-7 " tall.
- There seem to be quite the variance in color/health within the crop, some have perfect color, robust leaves, other slightly yellowing and have sagging leaves.

Thanks for the help!

More Questions -

-In a small closet how long should I wait before switching to 12/12, I was thinking @ 4 weeks?
- How much can I expect to yield DRY per plant? Low estimate? High estimate?

Thanks

I had a quick comment on your watering, with your medium I would not hold yourself to watering every day or otherday. Water only when they need it if the soil on top is dry check the holes at the bottom of your container, if they are dry pick up the container and only water when it feels light almost to the point of being bone dry. This is called cycling and if you have the nerves to try it you will be impressed by the results (extra root mass ). FRom the looks of your closet I would keep them short, I flower at 15-18 inches for a strain like that and they end up about chest/chin high in a 5gal pail. As far as yield, that all depends on your skills as a grower. You will also want to keep a close eye on your temps with 100watts in a closet 75-78 daytime, around 70 at night is ideal, good luck with it!

Hard to hazard a guess on yield, it looks like the size of your cabinet is going to really determine your outcome. I am new to the growing thing and am also using a 1000 watt light. I am thinking you need to amp up your ventilation, and get your temps under controll. My room https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/393424-harrys-first-grow-looking-forward.html is 8 x 10 feet and I have 4 plants going nearly 4 weeks into flowering and honestly I dont think that any of my plants would fit in your cabinet. You will soon find out that these plants will get HUGE under a 1000 watt light. I have one Nirvana Full Moon that has grown to nearly 48 inches above the 20 gallon pot and branches out nearly as wide. Using my first grow as my only data to go by I am guessing I will get minimaly 6 to 8 ounces per plant. If you have access to a larger space I am sure your yields will grow exponentialy. As for the deformed leaves when it happened to me it was a calcium deficiency and some "CALMAG" fixed it. I also found out through trial a heartache that it works best to add nutes at half the manufacturers dose.

Checked out your link, how long did you have those in the vegetative growth stage for?, Those are huge! What was your lighting cycle?

your plants look ok, just showing a bit of overwatering stress but you have corrected that :D 4 weeks may be a bit long under a 1000w given your limited head room. a skilled grower can get a pound+ from a 1000w. with your room size and accounting for 50% males you should be able to pull 1/2 pond easily. i recommend employing some LST techniques to keep the height down and form a more even canopy. the more filled in the canopy is the more efficiently you will use your grow space. your light seems fine you, your temp range is ok, as long as its over 50*F the plant wont freak out. 65-70*F at night is i deal. but my grow rooms are typically around 60*F at night to give the plant a rest, i feel warmer temps keep the plants metabolism working too hard at night. i alternate my feeding with plain water. it helps prevent salt build up and lessens the need to flush. i mix fresh nutes every time i water. but i have kept them mixed up in a jug for a week or so with no ill effects, just shake well before using. you could also set up a reservoir with an air pump to keep it aerated. this is really only beneficial for large grows that use a lot of water.
