First off I want to say this is a great site that has alot of information or lets say all the information and more that you need to know how to grow some good :leaf:.

Anyway heres my dilemma. I recently put together a pc case for my first grow. Got everything finished
2 46 watt cfls 2700k for flowering
4 26 watt cfls 6500k for veg
2 90mm exhaust pc fans wired to a ac/dc converter
1 90mm intake fan
exhaust blanket lined on the inside
odor gel, carbon filter the whole nine
therm/hygrometer
digital timer

However the case is a bit akward. It opens like a book, like on a hinge instead of the traditional one panel coming off to see inside. I didnt really like this and went searching for another case.

And i struck gold on craigslist. Picked up a old server case yesterday for 20 bucks that is about 22 inches tall 9 in. deep and almost 2.5 feet wide!!! Yes this thing is huge, its even on wheels.

Now with that being said my question is should I do a 3-4 plant lst grow there is plenty of room for this because of the width? Or should I turn the case sideways and use the 2.5 feet width to grow 2 taller better yeilding plants. Stealth really isnt too big of an issue(I live with my wife and she doesnt mind and I have a dryer/ac room with an outlet if family comes over)

I have pics but Im at work and do not have my camera with me to post them.

Any suggestions would be very helpful, I just want a different point of view other than mine.

PS) I just found another case on craigslist for 10 bucks. Its a full tower ATX server, looks really tall, maybe I could pick it up for a flowerbox?

if hideing it is not a problem why the pc case i think you be better off with an old wardrobe or trunk you could stand an old trunk on its end and have so much more room a pc case isn't really practical it eill fill up quick and still not yeild enuff to last till the next harvest but what do i know my room is 4x5x8....

I live in a townhome and have a child as well that people like to come and see, I would love to dedicate a wardrobe or a closet or even a whole room but I dont want to do things real big just have enough to support myself and have some fun doing so.

I envy people that have nice full size growrooms, I would love too. But I live with the wife and my 3 month old daughter, and family likes to come see her all the time I just couldnt have it :-(.

Im just going to stick with the pc grow, I work on computers anyway so its common to see them at my house, people probably wouldnt think nothing of it. Instead of me buying this new piece of furniture and someone saying oh whats this.

tell them its where you keep the used diapers they wont ask to see inside.... well you seem to know what you wanna do and i would say you need that extra bit of hight so put it on its side

Lol haha they probably wouldnt open it if i said it was diapers.

i like the idea of putting it on its side too, i would just have to set things up a bit different but i would probably yeild more and would have a wider range of strains to choose from with 2.5ft of height. Thanks man.

Any other suggestions?

only thing i would say is only do 1 plant to start and maybe 12\12 from seed? ive never done or belived in the whole 12/12 frm seed thing but if you have hight restrictions like that than maybe it would be cool or just veg a couple weeks and flower 2.5 feet will fill in quick so thats why i would do just one plant, so if it does get to big you have the extra room to play with. i would imagine there is another plant of similar size in there and try to keep that one plant small enuff t fit another. tye it down top it whatever you gotta do t keep it small and if it overgrows you have the extra room to work with and maybe just do one bigger plant at a time.
that way you get t know your new growbox and how a plant is gonna react to it before you stuff it full of plants and run out of room.... if you can get fem seeds that would be good if not your gonna have to just grow a couple and hop for a female good luck

You could consider doing a perpetual in there. 4 or 5 plants at different stages of growth would fit fine. Keep the lights on 12/12 and use some lst on the bigger plants and you could do ok. I usually run something like that with 4 plants, harvesting a plant and sprouting another seedling every 3 weeks or so.
Here's some recent pics that might give you some ideas.

Good luck with the grow.

I would also consider doing it as a SCROG grow as it would be much more efficient than trying to grow it straight up and would use light far more efficiently. That said there is a great vid on youtube of a guy on this site who grew about 1 ounce in a pc case with earth juice nutes and a scrog setup (search pc grow or scrog pc grow) . It was really cool. Since there is hardly any space I would try to find a tray that is roughly as big as the bottom of your case but 2-4 inches tall. Use this as your "pot" for holding your soil. Its not usually reccommended to have a shallow root system because cannabis' roots generally like to grow downward not sideways. But since you have very little room to work with it would give your plant a far bigger root system then it would have in a normal small pot. This would benefit your yield too because the bigger a plants root system, the more it will yield. As for making the scrog screen I would go to your local hardware store and buy 3 or 4 of the smallest stamped steel shelf brackets you can find and simply glue some magnets on with epoxy (these will stick to the wall of the case) and mount the scrog material on top with some mechanic's wire or something. I reccommend using a wire shelf or similar because it is rigid but you could get by with making a small wooden frame and some 1x1 or 1.5x1.5 inch fence wire. Good luck to ya.
