Damn a Smart Pot, thats going to be tough to beat cause the root formation and how plants grow in those Smart Pots are really nice. Im jealous I want one. I am using those on my next grow. Especially cause I feed my plants using "Making It Rain" THose are perfect containers for that. Very nice Smart Pot Ku!!!!! +REP (O gotta spread some rep)

This is just an experiment for me to have some fun. I don't plan on winning because I am not using an official party cup.

Remember where you saw a "pary cup" SmartPot first though! ;)

why do soil growers use the paper towel. i never got that. They germinate the exact same way in moist soil and u dont have to gingerly put the root in the dirt when it germs risking fucking it up not to mention the hassle of doing it 20 times (sog?)

SOMEONE TELL MEH WHAT THE PAPER TOWEL IS ABOUT

IM NOT FEELIN THE PAPER TOWEL. NOT FEELIN THE TOWEL!

I use a paper towel.. I use it because I know beyond a doubt when I have a dud seed instead of watering a dud for a week longer hoping it will magically pop outa the soil =) This way I can replace the dud faster. Just me though.

I agree with Mud, you will know if the seed you have is good.

Honestly, I am still on my 1st grow so I am a nOOb. I germinated my 1st grow seeds using the paper towel method and it worked for me. I respect your opinion and would really enjoy to hear your method of germination so I can give it a try. I am all about learning new ways and techniques. Growing is a personal preference, the more i know and learn about it can make me a better grower. So anonymus can you teach me your method of germinating a seed. The only other way I germinated a seed was with pH water soaked rockwool cube which worked great for me but I am all out of rockwool. Im all about learning, Thanks.:blsmoke:

Yep, I like to see if the seed is good or not. I hate watering a jiffy pot for 2 weeks wondering when the seed will pop. Then dig around to get it out making a mess. With the towel I just open it ever other day and when the root comes out I stab the jiffy pot with a qtip right in the center and use a pair of plastic tweezers to gently place it in the soil. I have never....never ever fucked up a seed that way. Although I did through some 9 or 10 year old seed in some shitty soil and some poped up after 3 weeks hahaha

I dont use a paper towel i use a lil shot glass type thing and fill it with distilled water. Well not fill just enough to cover the seed, then set it on something warm and cover it so its dark. In 12 hours i check it and make sure it sinks, sometimes you gotta poke it a bit. Around the 24-48 hour mark it should be sunk and splitting then i just plop it in the soil less mix i got. If they dont sink in 48 hours then this is what most of you call a "dud" i say no such thing. Take it out let it dry a few hours, then lightly sand the outside a lil it will look like you scratch off a lil outside skin and its discolored slightly from the rest. Just a spot or 2 like that is ok throw it back in the water and it should sink this time and split ive had a 99% germ rate like this. Some seedling might not make it but all the seeds will open. The one that makes that 1% just sunk this morning so we will see if it sprouts finally. It is a pick and mix dutch passion blue chimera.

I use the shot glass method as well. I drop my seeds in a shotglass of PH adjusted water, once all the seeds sink, they go into a paper towel. The paper towel then goes under my propagation dome and sits on a heat mat. The mat heats the seed tray to around 80-85 degrees with 90-100% humidity. Seeds will usually pop in 12-24 hours. I have a 99% germ rate with this process also =)

Thanks for sharing Badzad I will give that method a try on my next seed germination.

Mud, I kind of do it like you but I dont soak the seed in a shot glass. I pH the water I spray on the paper towels. I also dont have a heating mat or humidity dome. My water heater gives plenty of heat and putting the paper towel in side a Zip-Lock bag gives me the humidity. Ghetto but it works for me. I only germinated a total of 5 seeds ever. So I am a nOOB and I am learning here. Thanks

Peace

Is this thing still open? I read the thread but could have missed the cut-off date for new entrants... either way, I can get a clone ready if so :D

Moved my two Party Cup Kids into the flower room with their sister today. These guys are about 1 week from seed. Just came out of the propagation dome to hang out in the big girl room =)

Strain = White Widow + Hybrid Unknown Origin (good bag seed mated with pure strain Widow) These little guys are from my backup seed stock and not my prime strains. Looking forward to see if they frost up much in party cups =)

It's on gentleman and ladies, yall got some competition over here! =D

PICs weeeeee!!!!!!!

Nice Randy! Looking forward to seeing more pics of the competition here in the next couple weeks. My contestants were in propagation for 1 week under 24/7 Floro and are now moved straight into 12/12 starting today =-)

So I have a quick question here, can I use a clone that is 11 days old from being clipped as a Party cup entry? If so then I will have 2 entries cause I believe we can have two plants for the contest.
Thanks
