This shit happened to me 2 or 3 years ago. I was sleeping face down and was trying to wake up. I swear I was trying to move and my breathing got heavy as hell. I also was in a semi dream like state. I could see my sheets and covers but it was all hazy. I'm trying hard as fuck to get up but my body is only moving an inch instead of actually sitting up. I really thought I had died lol. Never happened again though.

Ya this shit is werid for sure. I have had this happend to me a couple times but never got scared or anything but when your minis awake but your body is not.. creepy shit.. reminds of that movie when the dude goes in for a surgery and has a OBE and sees that the docs are trying to kill him.

Different to the topic but has anyone had the feeling when your about to fall alseep and you fell like your falling and falling, if you have its almost like a free sky diving trip

That happened to me. Being an Italian polish kid I went to the projects for the very first time and was freaked out lol. I then went to sleep and dreamed I was falling off the project building into a sea of water. My heart pounded and my arms were flailing around. I'm good in the projects now that I'm in the hood more but damn that dream happened so many times.

Yea it is one of the worst feelings ever,I found on google it said its caused by demons being in your house but I dont think my house is haunted so im going towards the keeping you from hurting yourself while dreaming.

Hey folks!

Hopefully I can put your mind at ease. I like debunking paranormal stuff part time and one of the posters who posted earlier here mentioned the "old hag".

Believe it or not it is more common than you think but thankfully science has figured it out for us. The term is Hypnagogia. I'm going to paste in a definition from some web site that is hopefully self explanatory but at least you have a keyword to google for now and find out more about it yourselves.

Quote -

Hypnogogia is a disorder usually described as sleep paralysis, although this definition does not indicate all the possible symptoms experienced by sufferers. In the period of waking up or falling asleep sufferers of hypnogogia feel awake in the mind but paralyzed in the body. These are mild to severe episodes and those who have them can find them quite frightening. Studies performed in sleep labs show that while a patient with hynogogia is awake and aware of their surroundings, instruments measuring brain waves record their brain as asleep.

Not all episodes of hypnogogia are just a feeling or paralysis. Patients have reported a feeling of falling, auditory or visual disturbances and some report feeling joy. Usually the feeling is short. It is suspected that hypnogogia is a symptom of narcolepsy but there is still much research to be done and this is only one theory. Some make the distinction between hypnagogic hallucinations (which take place in the transition from wakefulness to sleep) and hypnopompic hallucinations (in the transistion between sleep and waking.)

end Quote.

Hope that helps you put your mind at ease and research what it is and maybe find a sleep clinic near you if it bothers you a lot.

Best of luck!

ive been going thru this shit since i was a kid. only happens couple of times a year, thought it was something that only happened to me until my mate and i got talking about it years ago!

Pretty horrible experience, every time it happens i still panic! Had one of the worst ones ever the other week. I was still dreaming whilst it was happening and i was attempting to reach my phone to call an ambulance cos id had a stroke and i just couldnt do it! Proper sweating after i came out of it!

When i try getting out of it, it kinda feels like ive gotta get my shoulder up. Like getting out of a wrestling pin HAHA

why the fuck would mexicans steal you while ur sleeping
If an illegal Mexican can kidnap you and get you into a Govt. Ag office with your jammies still on ..... they must by law buy you back by weight in tomatoes or corn.

Conversely, if a Canadian kidnaps you, they get free quality medical care instead...... so it can go either way.

Happens to me every once in a while...it's called sleep paralysis.I've learned how to scream with my mouth closed...when my old man hears me, he knows to touch me, that brings me out of it.He gets it too,and he'll do the same thing so I'll wake him.
Has any one else had this it sucks,It happens every once in a while to me just as im waking up.You cant move or talk at all it happend to a couple of my freinds to.I heard it happens so you dont hurt yourself waking up to fast. How many other RIUers has this happend to.

Yea this happens to me too. Usually on the weekends when I sleep longer than usual with no alarm to wake me. It is horrible. For anyone who said they would like to experience this to see what it is like just know that your life is better off without it. I can open my eyes just the tiniest bit to see but there is like heavy weights on them and on all parts of my body. It takes tremendous effort to try and move an arm or leg and snap yourself out of it. I guess the longest it has ever lasted has been only 30 seconds or so but it is the worst 30 seconds you can imagine. There is no way this could be confused with an alien abduction IMO. I am for all purposes awake and aware but paralyzed. There is no continuation of my dreams, no little green men, bright lights, or anal probing LOL. Only wishing with all of my being that something will happen to wake me up.

This happend to alot more people than I thought.Another thing I noticed is if I switch up my sleeping position to the other side of the bed it usually happens.

The best thing to do for me is wiggle my toes, that snaps me out of it. Concentrate on a simple movement like biting down, wiggling toes or shruggin' your shoulders. I have to say, though, the other end of the spectrum is sleep walking and i would rather do this than that.
