but I’ve heard that my plants do not need magnesium during flower.
You heard wrong. After the stretch period the plants want more Mg, K and S with less N, P and Ca. During the stretch which is a huge growth spurt the plants want lots of everything, I monitored my ppm drops during a few of my DWC grows and the plants would use up to 4X the amount of nutrients during the stretch period then would go back to using the same amounts they were in the week or so before flipping to flower.

I'll use extra Epsom Salts to give them more Mg and S and add some potassium chloride for more K while allowing my EC/ppm to drop the last 3 weeks or so before harvest. I expect and want to see older fan leaves beginning to yellow and show signs of low N and P as the plant relocates those mobile nutrients as needed by the buds. A week before I flip I load up with extra nutes from all 3 bottles and give them a half dose of Big Bud to 'prime the pump' for flowering. After a few side-by-side grows it was apparent that when I did that I got faster bud set, more bud sites and at the end of stretch had much larger buds than I did if I waited a week into flowering before adding the Big Bud. I also run CO2 for the stretch setting my exhaust fan control to 90F and higher RH so the CO2 isn't being blown out of the room. After the stretch I'd go back to regular temp/rh settings with no CO2 and feed Lucas Formula style with no Grow and 1ml Micro for every 2ml Bloom plus Big Bud until the end of week 5 for an 8 week strain which usually meant 9 - 10 weeks of flower before they were ready for chop.

S is the 'secret' ingredient in most bloom boosters and is part of the many aromatic compounds produced in terpenes and oils the buds produce.

When my plants are drinking more water than feeding, and my ec rises, I top off with ro only……..I will add calmag to the water that I added. My goal is to lower my ec but not initiate a calcium deficiency. I’m not sure that adding magnesium is needed.
EC is just general measurement, because it's electric conductivity reading.
So consider you give completely whacked NPK ratio, you still achieve proper EC number,
but some of the nutrients are going to run out and then some are leftover in bigger quantities.
So if your solution comes too imbalanced it'll lead pretty fast to deficiency of sorts.

So think of the growphase and the look of your plants when adjusting nutrient ratios.
You always gonna need Nitrogen and Calcium the ratios just change.

So even that Jacks with some CalNit, but just in smaller amounts than in veg.
Then if your standard nutrient doesnt bring you to where you need it, then you adjust it with Epsom salt, CaSO4 etc.

I'm running now with 0.22g/l Calnit, 0.11g/l MgS, 0.11g/l CaSO4, 0.44g/l PK, 0.44g/l Grow
so these are per liter numbers, but as ratio they come up with approx 1:2:4 in elemental %. Bit less than 3:1 K:Ca
I'm closing 7weeks and compensating tad from previous N excess.

In my hydroponic lettuce I spray each week to prevent tip burn. It’s absorbed thru the leaves. We do use calcium nitrate in our recipe mix. In our spray We use on-guard calcium 1-0-0 at 5% The calcium is derived from Calcium chloride.

I had thought about the Jacks 0-12-26, but I think if you add their 15-0-0 to get the calcium, then you’ve increased the nitrogen…??
Yeah you still increase the total amount by adding the calnit as usual, but not near as much as compared to using the original 5-12-26 Part A hydro "veg" formula. Thats that you're using.. 3-2-1 right? I still keep seeing people trying to substitute the cal nit with other forms and whatnot, when Jacks already came out with a new product, just for the exact purpose of reducing the nitrogen (or tapering off\transitioning over time with a blend of both part As), but still keeping the ratios IN whack. :eyesmoke:

$27 for a 1 kg bag to try it out..

Jacks for cannabis is basically 3 part now. Or more parts if you use some of the other products on the newer lineup.

Yes adding their 15-0-0 aka Calcium Nitrate will increase the Nitrogen, but you're starting with 0 Nitrogen in the base. I feel like somewhere along the line people got some bad info that Nitrogen wasn't needed in bloom lol.
