buy an ro filter, thats what I had to do . I still haven't made it back into hydro since I put everything into soil. Kinda digging the soil/soil-less at the moment but I did buy a ebb monster to the tune of 7 bills that I'd like to use again.

nah man, i think thats a lil TOO much for me. ill just shove these fuckers back in the dirt and do the hydro thing correctly with a RO for a future grow. i mean damn, i built the setup myself so why trash it?

THIS is the foam i speak of. my plants haventy grown at ALL.
well according to the photo all i see is just white foam... the only brown things are the hydroton and your thumb... lol jk ;)

anyways... all kidding aside... like db said earlier, the foam can happen with nutes being pumped and filtered...

ummm... just by looking at the plants id say that they are getting cooked, but again just an observation based upon limited data and only a photo that looks like your mix is too hot for them which will eventually turn into a lockout...

sensi was the only nutrient I remember having a problem with in veg ( I tend to run too high ppm sometimes), it does run hot. so you've set the ppm at 700 ? does that include the 400 ppm the water comes in at?

yeah, sometimes that's easier, sounds like you're due for a RO filter, I've read that 200 PPM is tops to rely on it for hydro, I'm sure others have done fine but after my tap quadrupled in ppm (70 to 280) I couldn't grow shit in hydro. This is why I'm in soil/soil-less now.

Does your tap water taste funky? sour bitter or soapy? like chlorine or petrol fumes? if you can drink the stuff from the tap your plants shouldnt mind it at all.

I use 4 different DWC tanks now, and i got no slime, foam or schmutz anywhere. Im usin Fox Farms grow big (soil type) and big bloom (hydro) at 4 ml/liter (about 2 tablespoons of each in my 20 gallon reservoir, and 2 teaspoons each in my 5 gallon bubble buckets) with a couple drops of superthrive and a soupson of Miracle Grow Patio just to keep things lively on the P K scale. my plants were germinated on 4/20 and now are 10 inches tall. I betcha its your nutrients are too spicy. Hell i dont even test my PH or electro-conductivity.

you may just be overthinking it. thin out your mix by extracting about 30% and replacing it with plain old garden hose water.

then for the slime, drop a 6 inch length of clean copper wire in the bottom of your tank. that will clear out the slimes. (works in ice machines and swamp coolers too) the copper will also attract the excess minerals in really hard water so youll need to use a scouring pad to scrub it when you see white crusty buildup on the wire.

what's your temps like both ambient and reservoir, I recently have had trouble with one of my spaces reaching mid 80's and it is causing algae in my bucket and water is evaporating and leaving all the nutes behind. Which is causing wild PH swings and steady increase of PPM

yeah that water certainly won't work for hydro, probably not real good for the plants in general because I suspect that your water has high levels of sodium. What type of water source do you have, meaning city or well? My tap water is around 180 and I have no problems with it, but as dbdick said anything over 200 is going to cause you problems. You notice any issues with your soil plants?
