alright, im at a loss here.

I lightproofed my ENTIRE container with a MASS amount of gorilla tape. im talking it passes the flash light test hands down. I use advanced nutes bloom A&B and had my PPM at 700.....this was 3 days ago, the PPM is STILL at 700 and now the damn fungus is back. last time i disenfected EVERYTHING. the bototm of the lid, the container etc. EVERY net pot was rinsed off, soaked in a H202 solution and rinsed off AGAIN (garden hose might i add, PLENTY of pressure behind it).

what causes this brown foamy stuff i cant seem to get rid of? its not "sliming" the roots but its basically cultivating in my container. im at a loss.

rinse your roots off with a peroxide solution with a spray bottle at 2 capfulls for a 20 ounce bottle...

then take your plants aside and let them soak in another tub, figure out best way to suspend them in place where they will soak for a bit in just plain pH'd water say 5.6-whatever they were used to...

then take your reservoir and put it in the bathtub and pour a couple of capfulls of bleach... then WASH AND RINSE AND DRY THOROUGHLY, then back to your normal hydro resevoir functions with checking to make sure that the same amount of ppm and nute level you were at before you took the plants out... ;)

if there is truly fungus and or some type of bacteria or mold or whatever that is harming your plants and contaminating the reservoir... only bleach will get rid of it for good, just make sure you rinse it very well after having again washed and scrubbed it down, with also a brand new sponge or cleaning apparatus etc...

pain in the ass i know... but if it really is harming your plants and it is a big problem for you then you'll have to clean ALL of it out, including your hoses as well let them soak in the reservoir with the bleach water... etc...

if it doesnt seem to be harming or affecting your plants at all, just keep it under check and just keep rollin on... ;)

good luck and enjoy the grow...

are you using new hydroton by any chance ? that shit is nearly impossible to get clean(unless you wash it over and over and over) and leaves a brown residue on things.

yes what I'm saying is you didn't get the hydroton clean and that's where the brown residue is coming from.
ahhh... yes... good one... dbkick ;)

yes hydroton will def leave a brownish/reddish gunk... i didnt even think about it, cause he said it was fungus and it "came back"...

and if there hasnt been any damage to your plants... then this is probably most likely it... keep an eye on it, but yeah this makes perfect sense...

great thinking on your part db... ;)

some nutrients or additives cause a foaming(especially when theres a lot of air being pumped in), I think its something like that and the residue is mixing with that. but without a picture or anything other than the info you've given I really couldn't say for sure, sounds like dirty hydroton to me.

I've got close to 4hrs of stirring, shaking, and rinsing through a screen before my 2 big bags of Hydroton was cleaned.

The othe poster, db is on the right track, foamy nutes, or Hydroton not rinsed enough.

doesn't look like your hydroton is dirty, kinda looks normal to me . maybe post some details like what nutrients, water quality and things like that, I get lots of foam from certain additives.

sorry, reading your original post I see you use AN, 700 ppm seems a little high for such a small plant.but I've been known to run 1000+ ppm on clones right out of the cloner.

err wait, I thought I saw a picture of a plant in this thread, my bad, blame the wake and bake.
oh they are in the background, yeah 700 ppm of AN stuff may be a little too much.

I use AN grow A&B. and keep my ph between 5.5-6.1. also, the plants dont ever seen to drink the nutes as the PPM stays the same.

doesn't sounds like you're fucking up that badly to me, maybe a close up of the plants would help. I had this same problem in hydro awhile back, my shit wouldn't grow and finally decided it was the water ( the ppm quadrupled, they went to chloramine I believe). I put them in soil and they took off.
