og kush question

Im not from cali and og around here is unheard of, Ive tried to grow it several times, different varieties. To me it seems super low yielding and lacks in vigor, with no side branching what so ever. Is this a case of quality over quanity?

The og lineage some are very stretchy and yes lack vigor. Only some though there are some ogs out there that are pretty stellar. Larry og is a real nice one as well as deadhead og. Training the og line will help with yield and also a good support system will make thing easier when flowers develop weight. I have a valley Dom dead head that I wrap in a scrog and have no probs but without the scrog the whole plant needs to be staked and supported.

So yea they are a little different than some plants but there's good quality in the og lineage just a little less stout than other crosses.

Its definitly quality over quanity when it comes to OGK. There not that low yielding once you get to know how to make them yield. Havent ran into a OGK that lacked vigor, most stay short in veg and stretch in bloom. What OGK have you ran?

That is sometimes the trade off with some genetic dank. You will get top shelf herb; however; you sacrifice in the yield department. There are some hybrids of og kush line that yield better than its original parents but it doesnt hit as hard but is still good imo. I have tried critical plus and critical mass mixed with og and it totally changes the structure especially the notorious stretch and lackluster yields associated with the og kush line.

Dinafem OG kush was a slower grower in Veg, but stretched out to help a bit once it flowered. I would agree tho, its quality over quanity usually with OG kush.

my dinafem OG had ZERO secondary side branches. i trained it to have 4 main branches, evenly canopied. every single growth from every node produced a golf ball like nug, that was super close to the stem. like i said, no side branching w/o training and topping, and even then it tries to grow apically dominant.

id say pre 98 bubba is a much lower yielder tho, and its fire so it pisses me off. anyone good at growing pre98?? ive been asking around on here for a while. seems its popular to talk about but very few actually have it growing.

yeah i sure wish dinafem would try crossing the critical + with their og. there must be a reason why this hasnt been done already.
same thing with there new chem strain. they chose not to breed with the critical to bump up yields. they went a different route in order to keep the chem line more pure.

i do know that critcal +, while an awesome strain/smoke, does seem to have bad tolerance education. meaning the more you smoke it the less it effects you over time. even dinafem themselves admit this. the idea behind critical jack and the other mixes they made with critical + were an attempt to increase the potency while keeping a decent flower time and yield that critcal is known for.

sounds like G13 labs has a similar OG to dinafem too. ive had great success with every bean ive ever popped by both of those companies.

ive seen a lot of bad reviews for the barneys critical kush. im not sure why, but i see more bad than good about it. ive had hit or miss success with barney's farm.

Hey smellzlikeskunkyum, how you doing? Listen to this man he knows what he's talking about. Dinafem's OG Kush, hmmm yes; oh so lovely. Just finished a blunt of it a matter of fact. I let her veg for 8 weeks under 600w hid, she grew to 2'...lights switched and pulled at 70 days where she finished at 4' and produced somewhere around 3 ounces of dry beautifully sticky bud. The quality of this bud is out of this world, you must smoke it to believe it. Mine produces several offspring one of which is 2.5 weeks into veg cycle and I pray that she is a female whom will mother many beautiful Kin. But the smoke; oh yes very sativa like uppity, as soon as you inhale you can feel the effects. I have a few other strains growing now and in line is dinafem's Og Kush n Cheese. Btw detailed pics of my og in my profile.

greenthumb's ghost OG is the best i've seen. not a huge yield at 3-6 ounces on a 24-30 inch plant but blithering potency and great taste

thats probably cause they get their stock from the same few seed producers. most of the fem breeders are not even breeders more like middle men for the big seed producers I forget what shantibaba said but it was something like their are only 2 or 3 actual fem seed producers and they all carry the same stock but they just throw different names on them.

As long as they put out some fire smoke, I could care less. Im in a non medical state andjust need high quality seeds. The few vendors available do a good job supplying my needs. My personal favs of West Coast US strains have come from Reserva Privada. Just my 2cents!

Real OG's are tall lanky and if untrained/short veg time, are really low yielders. Larry always seems to be the most indica/better yielder to me.
There is only 3 original OG's...Tahoe, Larry, SFV...all the rest are either S1's or crosses or just renamed. Now CC has all of the originals in seed so who know if one will ever see the real original again unless you have had the cut for like 10yrs.

CC has the purest OG expression(tall lanky dank) that I've seen, but the hybrids that capture the potency/kick of the original with some yield are out there. KandyKush from RP is huge yield like wreck but smells/taste/hits like OG that I've run.

RareDankness has a lot of good OG crosses. Their male really hands down OG characteristics. My experience is vicariously through fellow growers with them though.

Are we spamming for greenthumb still? Every thread about any strain dr.greenthumb has the best of it?

I tell you what out of 3 fem grows with his seeds 2 of them were bad and 1 of which was ghost og was a full on male. So yeah you keep thinking that if you want to.

@op- I would listen to tags420.

C.C. has a great selection of og kush to choose and so does rare dankness both of which I have personal experience with.

WRONG--the triangle kush (tk) is the original og kush and everything else i.e sfv, tahoe ect ect ect is an s1 of the tk--

Lmao wrong again.

Truth is no one actually knows what og kush is. But its said to be a s1 from chem 91 not the tk triangle kush. The only og spawning from that is the ghost og. But everything else leans to the chem 91 (tahoe, sfv, larry ect)

So yeah you might want to do some more reading up.

There are a ton of og kush cuts... Who knows. Poison, abusive, face off, hells angels, tahoe, Larry, sfv, ghost, triangle. More too that I know I'm forgetting. Each a little different to a connoisseur. Most would consider very similar.

All sativa dom, big stretch, pop corn buds all the way up. Low yeilder. Distinct fuel, chemmy smell and taste, some cuts bring more pine, others more lemony. You can't go wrong with og's. one of the best smokes out there.

Regardless of what's the origin, I'm sure we can all agree that an og done right, is hard to beat.

It definitely comes from chem91 heritage. Triangle is a whole different strain...more "real kush" as in the mountain range indica afghanis IMO. It also has a mystery story.

For OG there are 2 stories that have the most support to them.

Some say it is an S1'ed Chem91 all the way down the 3 orginals. chem91S1=tahoe, TahoeS1=larry, LarryS1=SFV.

Others say there was a cross to a (lemon thai x Paki) male then selected and beans kept secret for ever.

My personal theory is that the Tahoe is an S1chem91. And the Larry and SFV are both pheno's from the/a cross to the lemon paki. I have done years of research and talking to every knowledgable source I have access to in order to come up with the origins of the original OG. I've bugged everyone from swerve to the clone guys with "where did it come from." I have been growing OG since 99/2000 and will never forget what the real deal is.
It has been so long since there was only one, maybe 2 cuts out, that most people have just never seen the real original and think that just cause it says OG or is a cross that has it, they will be the real OG.

Yes, your dead on homie, plus the orginal came from Grass Valley and was orginally called Nepali OG kush. Then the cut was taken to Tahoe and then renamed Tahoe OG .
