Obama Should Order the CIA to Assassinate Snowden...

Did you hear about the guy who wrote "Runaway General" in Rolling Stone? The responders have been given a gag order and the official story is that he crashed his car. Before the gag order, an LAPD officer noted it did not appear the car was moving when the explosion occurred.
According to what? Because I just looked, and apparently the witness statement was that the dude was driving his Mercedes coup at exceedingly high speed. I didn't see anything about any police officers witnessing anything. As for an "explosion"--I read that the car, going at that exceedingly high speed, crashed into a tree.

I know something we can agree on! To disagree.
Uncle I have read a few of your posts an d I believe that you are very sensitive on certain issues. They seem to be personal, so i'll expect after dinner to see a very emotional take on pre war Germany. So don't hold back, let it all out.

i'm not gonna agree to disagree. i'll just simply list some of what happened in 1930's germany and watch as no comparable thing can be said about modern day USA.

That would be the reporter that got Mccrystal fired. When I first heard about that I thought to myself there is something odd going on.
He actually spoke very highly of Stan McChrystal. I think Hastings was of the mind that Stan the Man was doing a very good job specifically because he was so active that his civilian oversight was circumvented. That is why he was fired, he not only felt that civilians like Biden were getting in the way, but he demonstrated that JSOC could achieve US goals with out much waste and certainly with out widening the scope of the US role. In other words, he could get us out of the quagmire with a small surge. It is arguable that he really established JSOC as what it is even though he did not form it.

What this points to, is the profit motive of the people running the military industrial complex. They wanted a quagmire, they wanted a huge and costly surge paid for by the US working class. They would be dipped in shit if they were going to have Stan win the war fast and cheap.

The goals in Iraq are different, that was about destabilization which Patraeus achieved. They just had to put Iraq's oil in the hands of the Trust oil companies. With Afghanistan, liberating resources is a completely different set of goals.

Hastings knew this better than any other journalist. He was killed for that reason as I see it. If Runaway General shed a light on anything, it is that the state department wanted all control of diplomacy and for the military to be wasteful consumers. Stan the Man runs 8 miles a day, eats one meal a day and sleeps 4 hours a night. This is a serious man, a fucking lion.

You win the argument with out achieving persuasion. All I am going to say is familiarize yourself with all he had to say. For the record, he was not assassinated. An important journalist is dead though.

Except none of that has anything to do with why they got rid of him. Any general who said those things about civilian officials would have been immediately shuffled in exactly the same way. It's incredibly inappropriate; the man's personal thoughts and opinions were totally irrelevant and never should have been publicly aired. If McChrystal wanted an independent voice, he should have resigned his commission and run for public office.

Bullshit. That is why he was removed, reporters say shit all the time, why is a Rolling Stone story suddenly enough to get a general fired? You're saying there has never been a general officer that was so good at his job that he could criticize the obstacles to his success. That is just not true. GTFO with your msm talking points and read about Smedly Butler.

Dead by his own hand, which is what you're trying to undermine by breathing this conspiracy nonsense. The man was driving his car at maximum speed at 4:30 in the morning and lost control of his car. Had he not careened into a tree, he'd probably still be with us now.

The only case you have is that he was critical of the government. That's it. Lots of other people are critical of the government; lots of people have done far more damage than Michael Hastings' article did. They didn't turn up dead. What's suspicious here is your doubt that someone who spent so many years risking his life in war zones would be speeding on an empty California highway early in the morning.

I agree. It is almost always about the buck. Ike warned us and the Pentagon papers showed us it actually is a US strategy.

No I'm not. I'm saying I believe it. I also said you win the argument on that one. have fun with it, idc.

What I am suggesting/pushing/breathing/wanting people to engage in/ recommending is that people familiarize themselves with what Hastings had to say.

January 1933, the Nazi Party began to eliminate all political opposition and consolidate their power.

August 1934, and Hitler became dictator of Germany when the powers and offices of the Chancellery and Presidency were merged. A national referendum held 19 August 1934 confirmed Hitler as sole Führer (leader) of Germany. All power was centralised in Hitler's hands, and his word was above all laws.

Extensive public works were undertaken, including the construction of Autobahns (high speed highways).

Jews and others deemed undesirable were persecuted or murdered, and opposition to Hitler's rule was ruthlessly suppressed. Members of the liberal, socialist, and communist opposition were killed, imprisoned, or forced into exile. The Christian churches were also oppressed, with many leaders imprisoned.

Career and educational opportunities for women were curtailed.

The government controlled artistic expression, promoting specific art forms and discouraging or banning others.

Austria and Czechoslovakia were seized in 1938 and 1939. Hitler made a pact with Joseph Stalin and invaded Poland in September 1939, launching World War II in Europe.

All civilian organisations, including agricultural groups, volunteer organisations, and sports clubs, had their leadership replaced with Nazi sympathisers or party members.

Violent suppression of communists by the Sturmabteilung (SA) was undertaken all over the country, and four thousand Communist Party of Germany members were arrested.

The Reichstag Fire Decree, imposed on 28 February 1933, rescinded most German civil liberties, including rights of assembly and freedom of the press.

In March 1933, the Enabling Act, an amendment to the Weimar Constitution, passed in the Reichstag by a vote of 444 to 94.[SUP][17][/SUP] This amendment allowed Hitler and his cabinet to pass laws—even laws that violated the constitution—without the consent of the president or the Reichstag.

On 10 May the government seized the assets of the Social Democrats; they were banned in June.[SUP][21][/SUP] The remaining political parties were dissolved, and on 14 July 1933, Germany became a de facto single-party state when the founding of new parties was made illegal

The first Nazi concentration camp, initially for political prisoners, was opened at Dachau in 1933.[

i'm sure bretz will be more than happy to point out where the equivalents of these things have happened recently in the united states!

If you wanted to simply suggest that people familiarize themselves with Hastings' work, you could do it without saying you think he was assassinated. Appending that part makes it clear that believe in conspiracy nonsense with absolutely no evidence. It undermines whatever point you claim to be trying to make.

So no, that's actually not what you're suggesting. What you're really suggesting is that the man was killed for what he said.

No but, it is exactly what continues to happen in un-consolidated caliphate. It is the same as Sharia. Sharia influenced the Reich, as well as, the Reich influenced the practice of Sharia in Egypt for example.
