Nutrients. Is it all snake oil???

I make you right, it is an utter pissing contest. I have just dropped some money on a set of Alibaba Quantum Boards. People hate on them because they aren't the latest and greatest brand and can't possibly comparable to the fancy pants brand they have invested 3 times the money in. I have done my research and have been buying other electronics direct from China for a while and never had a problem.

Until I have a problem I am going to stick with what I am doing now. It is cheap and simple.
Ignore anyone trashing your lighting. I'm still using HID lighting. People talk trash about them all the time. In one ear and out the other. Many spent 3-4 times what I have on my lighting and still can't grow a healthy cannabis plant. They also dump a dozen bottles of this and that on their plants and still with all the money they spend they can't seem to keep a plant healthy from seed to harvest. Some struggle just to germinate a seed. Some spend more time looking at lighting specs than they do learning about basic horticulture which is of more value than the latest lighting.

I just tested it for ya's
Tomatorite 2ml in 1 litre of tap water with a reading 0.3 on bluelabs truncheon equals an EC of 1.0

Growing in soil I also have a box of special amendments for pH control and deficiencies issues if they arise. Potassium carbonate, Epsom salt, Calcium carbonate (white chalk), Mosquito Bits, super phosphate, and some clear ammonia. I use the potassium carbonate for pH control with the flower and ammonia for pH control of the veg.

I use to use epsom salt a lot but my well water is high in magnesium carbonate. So maybe at the beginning of veg and again when going to flower. I normally use rainwater with cup per gallon of well water blended in for the watering. Rain water is around 6.5 and the well water is around 7.5. I should see what a half and half mix does.
Ammonia? Please share how to use.
Thx

So 2ml in 1 litre increases EC by 0.7.

thanks @Moflow I feel a trial coming on soon lol.

What medium do you use? Coco? Soil? Hydro?

Just wondering if you find you need to add anything extra such as S Mg Ca?

Ive done hydro years ago then started using peat but now I'm trying to go organic.
I'm now using an organic mix of peat, homemade compost, worm castings from bins and black, very well rotted farmyard manure.
I also use the Dragonfli Roots Boost granules, full of microbes. It's works out quite cheap per plant
I was flush last month so I bought a big bucket of Ecothrive Charge and their biosys to try too.
I've a bottle of cal/mag lying in the cupboard that is very seldom used, more as a preventative really.
I think the Tomatorite + seaweed extract has everything in it a plant needs although its not stated on the tin.
I'm also got Maxicrop seaweed liquid in the arsenal.

It does contain seaweed extract. I had problems with too little Mg when I first started growing again. But that was with oldtimers. I started adding epsom salt and have done ever since, I had no problems with Tormorite and Epsom Salt. You have reminded me that I need some Dragon Fli, I start my seeds in small pots and give each one a dash of that when I pot up. It is as cheap as chips on Amazon.

I think nutrients are snake oil. I have a pot of dirt i grow in, I can grow anywhere from 1-16 plants in it. I get 3-4 harvest per year. I only spent 300 for the soil parts, 75 for the bed. Maintenance cost is $200 every 2 years for 2 of these bed. $50/ year/bed is good for me. 3lbs Clover, 25lbs Craft Blend, 300g Big 6, and 2oz Quillaja Saponaria. All from a small business in CO that is not affiliated with Scott/Miricle Grow called BuildASoil.com

Watering is hooked up to the tap through a drip system i pieced together. This bed is a year old. and has had 2 runs this year in it. The soil however is 7 years old and has had 24 runs through it.

Been using shogun ferts for the last few years according to the relevant feed chart, at stated levels and despite running multiple multuple seeds, not one deficiency accross the board....highly recommended it

Depends on the product, always do your research and best of all testing in your own garden. I think things like Silica are over rated and bottled microbes are overpriced as hell like Mammoth P when you could brew up 5 gallons of microbes for a few dollars using Xtreme Gardens Tea Brews. 5 gallon bucket and some purified water...
