update.....
the last batch of clones, that i kind of beat up getting them into their rooters, still went 8 for 8 in the shoe box!.....unfortunately, most were shit-canned because they were from the hermy kushes......3 out of 4 kushes, from three different breeders, all fem seed, hermed....only sour kush from d.n.a has not as of yet...she is being watched very closely....( the three herms were all freebies from attitude, and the sour kush i bought in a five pack of fems).........5 for 5 sprout on the cheesequake....

i am not bashing fem seed, so don't start in on that rediculous argument (not that any real nerd would).........i am merely stating the facts in my lab.:-P....nugs

that's sucks bro, shit happens though.

Just pruned my "main liined" Vortex & Space Dawg.

Quick question:

I didn't prune at the first set of nodes (while pruning for 4) but the 3rd (to create a natural "y")

I cant tell if you pruned at the first set there (for 4) or the 3rd. can ya give some guidance? I am sure it's all good, but just want to see where you go from there.

Nug, brother I like how you finished that with the statement of the real nerds. The passers through make themselves know very quickly with those convos.

symmetry is everything....so if you had to prune to get to a nice symmetrical node, to create a "Y".......thats fine.....go to the main-line thread to get the early info.....it is well documented....if you need any more clarification, let me know....nugs

adult supervision required!.....................

...........old galvanized hog panel, 20 gal. smartie with handles, some burlap, and a few tools.......pretty easy really.......the screen is 24 in. above the soil, and can adjust either way about 12 inches or so........still working out some kinks, but i plan to run this motherfucker.......with a 32 headed vortex......the screen has 21 spaces, but some can be shared, plus the whole outside can be utilized with soft wire ties.......the plant is just in there for a visual.....i have to time it just right with the 30 day outdoor stretch....should be a fun challenge!:leaf: enjoy, nugs

p.s. i couldn't get the Macgyver them song out of my head when i made this!:-P

she is a bit top heavy when maxed out height wise, so i plan to run her quite low to combat this issue.....but the whole works can be dragged around pretty effortlessly.....or if i do run it high, i will just add 2 more legs...the most difficult part was bending the hoop, without fucking it up.........a hog panel is about 25 bucks new, and i used 1/3 of it....the hardware and wire a few bucks....i probably have under 20 bucks in it, took me 2 hours to build.....peace and love, nugs

......modifications....

....needed to lighten it up a bit....she was too top heavy, so i cut the second ring off the bottom of the hoop, reducing the weight by 1/3....this also gave me my first canopy ring for my other plants.....will also do away with the cable clamps, and file in some height index marks into the legs, and then use wire to fasten the screen to the legs.......that should do it, i am pleased with the design..........now that i am invested into this challenge, i am not so sure i want to go with vortex, do to it's thin stems....i may go with cheesequake instead...we will see at the time of transplant........i have my vortie outside in the wind, she is main-lined, and i gave her a dose of calcium to help build her cell walls in hopes to stiffen her stems up a bit.....but we will see......i definately will put her outside, cause she is dank as hell, but not quite sure how she will be handled.......always adjusting.....bobin' and weavin'......:leaf:

Why are thin stems on the Vortex bad for scrogging? It rained a bit here today and my weaker stemmed Vortex got a little beat up from it. I was really thinking about installing a screen on my next day off, but now my thoughts have changed a bit lol. Or maybe I'll just do it as a test? What do you think? :leaf: Also, what is an easy, organic way to boost calcium. Egg shells? Will ground, uncomposted (fresh) egg shells work?

What about if you made another screen level 6"-1' above the first one to support the branches as they stretched up in the beginning of flower? Just an idea, it would add quite a bit to the top-heaviness of it though. Thanks for the info and ideas as always man, I love this thread!

ground oyster shells I find work best, fresh egg shells may work in an outdoor application, but may attract bugs indoor.

Nugs may do it different.

hey bro, i have a buddy that swears by egg shells, but i don't buy it......there are still shells in my garden from three years ago, after composting for three years!....perhaps if you ground them to a very fine powder.........my dolomite has a shit ton of cal in it, and i go heavy in my super soil....in my mind cal should always be considered a macro nutrient.......cell wall rigidity is crucial, .....that being said, i just hit my vortex with some left over liquid cal/mag from......shit now i can't remember...lol....that just goes to show you how little i use the bottles, now that i switched to super soil.......as far vortex, and scrog...it is a perfect strain for it.....the problem outside, is she does not like high winds, and storms, she is just delicate....you want to see vortex shine in a scrog, check out oriahs current grow, he is going to kill it big time with his set up.....nugs

right, i just think the finer, the better......if you take a little scoop, and mix it in a drinking glass full of water, and it gets really cloudy.....that is a great sign, as far as assimilability is concerned.

Thanks for the cal suggestions, I'm retarded I forgot dolomite lime /facepalm. I'll sprinkle a bit on the top soil, even though I tripled the amount that was in the super soil recipe and put some in the bottom of the hole a few weeks before putting soil in. :D

I think I'm still going to try the Vortex scrog outside, my gals are right next to a thick ass japanese maple and my house so it's kinda shielded from wind.
