Nugs, those buds are so beautiful that any of the shots would get noticed and get a double take. I liked 1 and 4 from the original set cause I didn't see as much of the bud getting out of the focal zone on the side and bottom. I think when you throw that separate flash up and have it rake across from one side or the other a little, with buds like that you will have truly killer shots...both because you'll have more pop with the light separating the bud from the background, perhaps even a little rim lighting effect and some reflections off crystals, and also more light will let you get a little more depth of field so all those nice calyxes and the front sugar leaves are more or less in focus...I've found an approach I like using both the ring light and a flash coming from an angle or the side, setting the cam on manual, stopping down enough just to get the whole bud in focus (like f/11 to f/20, I use a dof calculator app on the phone) and setting shutter speed fast enough to prevent blur (like 1/60 even tho it's on a tripod), then adjusting the flash to give you the amount of light you need (instead of letting the shutter speed/aperture do that) gives good results...
