No room prep very simple ~$200 budget grow

One surplus 1kw magnetic halide ballast $50 ebay/craigslist

One 940w general purpose conversion bulb ($25 lucky ebay find)

FFOF soil - $50 hydro shop
Surplus 6 gallon buckets - $1 ea craigslist
Shultz general purpose veg nutes - $5
Botanicare flower nutes - $traded for but $50 would cover it.
Six inch fan on floor - $10 (but I already had it)

Extension cord to remote ballast was free, had it in the garage and was already broken anyway.

No room prep, no other goodies, not even a timer.

Anyway, aside from me being cheap poor and lazy what do you think about the return on investment?

Hell if it works, why not, +rep for doing it at least well, and getting good results. What do you do about the smell?

I love the smell... And being legal I don't have to worry about it.

A carbon filter would be nice though, eventually. Nobody else likes the smell but me.

looks like some schwaggery.
There's plenty of shwag allright, these suckers were supposed to get lights all around them but now because that didn't happen only the sides I left facing the light are good nugs, all around the outside is a bunch of wasted fluff.

I guess I'll just have to cook with all that or something but I'm still looking at well over a pound of the good parts.

I have to open the door to that room before the light can come on or it would burn the hell out of the plants because there's no a/c or exhaust in that room. I wake them up and put them to bed manually every day.

What's hard to believe?
