I used to flush.
I also used to wear a diaper because I would shit myself.
I've moved on.
My unflushed coco weed using General Hydroponics nutes was great. It smelled and tasted great and the ash was white.
I do not know where you are getting this black ash, crappy tasting weed.
My guess is that it is pulled off a plant, dried not enough and then put in a bag.
I saw no reason what so ever to flush in hydro.
In hydro the medium is inert. The plant can not live with out nutrients.
When you all of a sudden give a plant zero food, it is stressful to the plant.
Stressed plants will yield less and not be as good.
If you feed properly, flushing hydro is not necessary.
If you over feed and build up salt and crap, then flushing might be a good idea.
Running 10 gallons of water through a 5 gallon pot of soil is insanely dumb. You are washing away all the beneficial microbes and food that has made the plant what it is. That is a one way ticket to Stressville USA.
The flush simulates the November rains....
That is not true.
My garden is usually dry as fuck in September and dead in November.
My tomatoes split open this year when we got 6 inches of rain in a few days.
Flushing fucks my tomatoes up, just like it does to cannabis.
After summer as plants near harvest the rains come in most parts of the world.
That is not true.
When we grow indoors we are not trying to replicate the outdoors, that would be dumb. We are trying to create a much better environment. Do you want high winds, heat, rain, hail, dust, bugs, mold, pollen, varying humidity etc. indoors?
Flushing is part of farming, growing and health in general.
That is not true.
I am a farmer.
How do you suggest I flush thousands of acres?
Dr's prescribe water for all manour of ailments, body builders flush out their steroids, drinking plenty of water positively effects the skin.........
You want to compare humans to plants?
This process is carried out for plants outdoors by the Nov rains.......
Stop it, you are making up stories.
Is this the rational behind flushing? Stories?
This concept is noted by meteorologists, farmers, fishermen and is prevalent in "popular media"........- Sung about by several rock and country musicians..... The "rains" come to wash away the toxins/sins of the summer........ I can think of at least 3 songs that make mention...... Fuck me!!.... there are even wall carvings that depict the Nov rains.......... Don't come and try to mislead new growers and deride time honoured methods.
You are making up stories to back up your unscientific opinion. Stop it.
George Cervantes and Kyle Kushman are not wrong.
They say to flush organics.
That is
really wrong.
Running 10 gallons of water through 5 gallon pots stresses plants, it does not make them better.
Nor are the generations of growers who have implemented this time honoured technique wrong.
Where is the science?
People used to think that illness was caused by elves. Do you think that is true?
It is part of simulating, indoors, what the plants would experience in an outdoor season.
Not where I live.
Quit plucking that chicken, it is bald.
We have a new generation of faux prophets whose weed you'll never smoke. They have found their home on the internet where they can gain popularity by suggesting you miss steps i.e decide how much veg and bloom nutes plants will have by premixing the soil once before even seeing the goddam plant..........or by not flushing because you mixed the perfect amount of rotting veg and animal matter before you even see the size and potential of your plant. This is all just hooey being pushed around the time the "growing population" begins to, ever increasingly, resemble the general public....! Lazy growing tips for lazy growers. Putting big plants in all-in-one grow mixes, in large pots, under a 1000w light is the caveman approach to gardening.
Cavemen didn't flush their weed...
Don't you think Advanced, Canna, Bio Bizz and GH would gladly print on their feed schedules to feed for 1 or even 2 extra weeks? It would, certainly, be in their FINANCIAL INTEREST!
Now, the No Flush might work for a limited number of highly capable organic growers, particularly outdoors.
It worked for me in hydro. It was easy, feed properly and then ramp down the nutes as the plant needs less towards the end.
When I flushed, the plants didn't like it. When I fed properly, I got a better yield and no loss what so ever in quality.
Buds do not store fertilizer, period.
They might know their mix and plant phenotype and feed schedule inside out and be able to read exactly the levels of nutes the plant has and wants....... If you are not one of those growers you risk leaving unwanted impurities in your buds and medium. I can't see what is stupid or faddish about that??
Buds do not store fertilizer.
