defoliation is a hot topic. i always chop the underbrush on indoors, don't cut anything (other than topping/training) outdoors. removal of some fan leaves in a clustered cab can be beneficial in preventing mold/mildew and allowing more even light distribution.

Fiming or toping can only help you and is super easy...more work if your taking clones. Fiming gives you 4 new nodes, topping 2. I also defoliate all the way thru flower little by little, unless she tells me "no more". Shit man...it's your piece of art...do what makes you happy! IMO - Peace

New question after gettin my lovelies water correct a few days ago they have really sprung up......So....i got two 5 g buckets i fill w/ 2 gal of h2o (ph5.8/ppm850) and I have never had a prob before with keepin water in buckets whole grow....kinda have a aero/hydro thing goin ...so being the responsible chaperon that I am i went to check the water and BAM like 3 inches in there...temp is still same as always 78-80...so evaporation shouldnt be prob.... Is this because my plants are now taking up more nutrients compared to before? Thus using more water?

About trimming, I think I like the bigger colas on top and less popcorn Bud on the lower branches.....so, I trim the lower branches off....a little at a time.....so the plant don't notice...never more than a couple of branches at a time??? I think the big boys call it lolly popping. I prefer pruning for yield.

Ahh defoliation. Quite a hot topic indeed... In my opinion, NEVER remove leaves if you can find any way around it. They provide a valuable energy source to the plant without taking any energy away. Your plant went through all that trouble creating a solar panel that doubles as a storage unit for nutrients and you're going to remove it? If a leaf is in the way of a budsite simply tuck it away! Or if that isn't feasible, cut only the part of the leaf that is blocking light from getting to the bud. You wanna try as hard as you can to let your plant keep as many leaves as possible. Lollipopping is another story as energy is actually going into those buds without you or the plant getting much of a reward in return. I wholeheartedly encourage lollipopping but ONLY in the very early stages of flowering.

I see these pictures and look back into this thread and laugh! We were actually talking about topping or fiming...lmao! You were way past it then. Those girls look wonderful and I wouldn't change much at all. Maybe trim some bottom leafs off. Looking good bro! keep us posted with more nice pics. Peace

I agree with everyone here, only trim when needed to help bud sights get light. Just took my first two fan leaves this morning, felt a little bad but I know it will do the plant good!

Also, really nice plants man! :D
