im thinking about starting my next grow with a 600 watts or 400 watts or 1000 watts hps bulb vertical but my closet is only 5x2x7,i want to grow 2-4 plants in there, do i need to have proper air ventilation? and if so how do i set it up? do i just buy a hps light bulb and hook it up to my lamp or do i have to buy a special lamp for it?

any socket that holds a hps light will work. rig it vertical and your good. i used a zip tie from hvac ducting. 5x2 i think would be hard with vertical. but if you can do it without burning or bleaching the plants do it.. and you would need cold air in hot air out like any other normal setup.

As close as you can without bleaching and burning the plants how far up from the ground depends on your height but I keep mine at the middle.

A new vertical setup takes some planning and thinking, and then refitting once things you never thought of develop mid grow. Air movement is a big deal as is support and maintaining bulb distance. 5x2 seems like an awfully small space. A 1k would be like an oven in there...
