New to This Site Need Help

HI ALL I AM NEW TO THIS SITE AND I HAVE BEEN LOOKING THROUGH THE NET AND CAME ACROSS A HYDROLAB 110XXL WITH MYLAR THIS IS THE GROW TENT I AM WANTING TO BUY , AS I SAID I HAVE NEVER GREW IT BEFORE SO I HAVE NO IDEA , SO IF I BUY THE TENT WHAT ELSE CAN I BUY AND FOOD ECT JUST NEED GENEREAL HELP PLEASE FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE OR ARE DOING THIS

Just a little general forum knowledge, usually when you have a question it has already been answered. So that little search bar on the top right hand corner of the site is your best friend.
As for the stuff you will need, it all depends on your money situation.

A bunch of people swear by Fox Farms, but it is always a good idea to mix your own soil so you know what is going into it. Subcool's Soil Mix Linky link
Next you are going to need some lights. You really have two efficient choices. The first being HID(High Intensity Discharge) and the second being florescent. They both have their pros and cons, and I have seen very successful grows with both setups. Regardless of your choice, I would recommend at least 600 watts of light for that tent.

As far as my opinion goes, for a 600 watt setup, a switchable HID that takes a high pressure sodium bulb and a metal halide bulb would be best.

As for seeds, I would recommend Nirvana Seed bank, or The Attitude. After that, it's really just what strain you would like.

Nutrients, people swear by advanced nutrients, but with the soil mixture above, I am not sure if you will need nutes. I am sure someone can shed some light on that.

And for the love of Jesus, shop around for everything! Don't just assume that your tent is reasonably priced, make sure it is on the same level as other popular tent. Find reviews for the tent, if there are none, I wouldn't buy it. Just me though lol

I've been growing quite a while and whitled my grow need down to pretty much what I have now, having gone through a lot of options over the years. I now use a tent inside my home with an intake fan and an exhaust fan with char can for stealth....use Humboldt soil which is nuteless....yes used FFOF, sunshine, MG org, among a few but have had my most consistant results with nuteless soil....use a molasses based nute package, biobizz and everything else very much in the K I S S mode. I grow simply, dry and cure with purpose and burn all evidence.
Lots of options out there....some tried and true, some just over the top....sometimes ya will have learn a lesson the hard way cause there wukk be so many methods that may get your attention, then fizzle in failure....patience works....
I get great seed stock from dope-seeds, attitude and Nirvana....dope-seeds being my fav although attitude and nirvana have supplied a LOT to my stock too.

yer i understand i looked on the net and it looks like a good tent , you can get the full kit on there aswell is buying the full kit a good idea or is it worth buying different , i really dont no about this at all but i am interested in doing it and putting the work time and money in it . lol

also you say its good to buy from Nirvana seed bank if you look on there it says female seeds and indoor seeds would it make a difference what one i buy or is it just the indoor ones ? i think it should not make a difference , also they do the full kits on e.b.*.y if you look is this a good idea to buy this ?

Again, you really just need to look at the things that come with the kit. If you can get the same quality of all the items separately for cheaper, then obviously that's what you will want to do. After you empower yourself it will be much easier for us on the forum to help you.

This hobby takes a lot of hard work, but it is fun. And being on RIU is really good motivation to keep your plants alive.

BTW, read other peoples grow journals. Most of them document a persons journey through the same stuff you are going through. You can see what worked for them and you can see their end result based on their grow setup.

maybe im wrong but u want the female .........y would u want to take the chance of growing boys......u want seeds?

yer m8 i already know i would only use female seeds . just i can get the kit its 100xxl i have never grew before i am thinking will i kill them lol

well u can buy the full kit on the internet, so lets say i did then what do i do to start it , as i have a little plant already that me m8 gave me . do i just put it in the tent & ???? :/

ok m8 av u got 1 an were to buy it from .. it is GROW TENT KIT 1.2M, 600W LIGHT, FAN, FILTER, DUCT and its £214.99 is this cheap enough ov i dont no what i am looking for i ma wanting to grow about 2 plants up to 4 maybe 5 ft tall , i can buy the stuff just need to no what i was just going to buy the kit and see whats what .

As far as females and males go, it gets complicated. The female produces the bud you want, the male pollinates the female bud to make seeds. When the female bud is pollinated, it becomes less potent because it is focusing its energy on seed production.

As far as only buying feminized seeds, I am really against it because I think it is like working towards extinction. I don't want to go into this topic any farther just because it would take me an hour to get all of my info out. But you can learn everything I know by looking at the breeding section of this site.

Simply enough, buy regular seeds. When the males show, safely take them out to a forest or something and let the have a chance of survival. Then fill their spots in your grow tent with more seeds and do the same. Or leave it open to give your ladies room to breath.

"u probably will....... " I really doubt you will kill your plants. Especially since if you are unsure about something, you can always just ask on the forum or search it.

Thats about the cheapest you will find on e.b.a.y. What sort of medium were you thinking about useing?

My tent is 5.5 ft tall but my plants are limited to about 3 ft as my charcan and cooltube take up the inside top of tent.... Tent growing has def changed some of my ways and growing methods according to strain.....
My basic list is : tent, cooltube, charcan, 4" centri exhaust, 4" centri intake...both on speed controls....simple and easy maintenance...of course digital timers...after the basics it is all about your ladies and their welfare....

my friend already has a plant and i was going to put it straght in to a tent its a female plant so would this work for me ? what would i have to give it ect . .i know i can look at other posts but id rarther get to know all the info i need whilst tryin to shop and find what i need to get yes this is a little hobbie i have been wanting to do for a goood few years but not had the time or money to do it .. as much info possible i need . i would want to buy a full kit on ebay and then put my friends plant in my tent i dont no what would happen after that , water food light ect .

Well that is a basic package, but you still need a lights timer that is grounded(in US at least) and if you already have a plant going, you can just throw it in there on a 18/6 light cycle. Do you know anything about the vegetative and flowering stages in the plant?

were did you buy your set up from m8 and have you any pics . is it essential to have all what you have told me there m8 . as i said i was just going to buy a kit on ebay and take it from there i have no ideas about the tank ect .. also i see people are using a sort on incubator whitch have really small plants in what and why is this .. sorry about the questions i am trying to basiclly cover everythink before i buy a kit .. i can read all the how to do it boooks but its not worth it as id have to read it about 20times to get it in to me ed haa lol

mate seriously i know nothink about this . i always watch vids on youtube and signed up to this today i am wating to know as much as possible then il buy the right kit if some 1 leads me in the right direction and start my stuff and post pics on here for ya all ...

new guys kill plants everyday and u would never catch me packin a boy out into the woods....y would u want to waste space growing boys???????
