New to Autos.

Hey all I've been wanting to try autos so I figure what the heck! I am getting ready for 2012 and looking to get a pack of seeds. I'm an outdoor grower so I will be growing outside.I have a few questions. Pot size, would 5-10gallon smart pots be good? Strains, I'm looking at Syrup, La Diva, Easy Ryder, Blue Himalaya Diesel, Vertigo, Fruit from Dinafem. Also leaning towards some blueberry, maybe royal queen, dutch passion, lowlife, smurfberry? For nutes should I assume use only flowering nutes?

5gallon should be sufficient my friend, Easy Ryder was good. About 1oz yield indoors a plant as a newb with mistakes so outdoor should do real well! I currently germing Royal Queens Critical Mass - Heard very good things.
Hope this helps.

yea 5gal is all you will need for pot size... any of those strains will do you right. RRF is great to its one that I grow...if you use supersoil you would not need any nutes...
I don't know if you have though of this so I'll give you a tip, if you start them inside under 20/4 or 24/0 for the first 3 weeks then put them outside you will end up with a lot bigger plants then starting them outside the 1st 3 weeks are critical for size..

they have outdoor applicability if you wanted to get two harvests in during one grow season but they're fantastic for indoor home hobby grows. I tried some outside, you better get them in a sunny area or they will be laughably small. Indoors in a large pot, bombarded with light for 20 plus hours a day 55-65 days, you can get a lot off one auto.

Also I really like sativa plants, for me its almost an impossibility to grow some close to pure photo sativa inside but I can grow some very excellent sativa autos. They've come a long way since the original lowryder.

I narrowed my strains down to blue himalaya diesel, blue himalaya (whats the difference in the two?) La Diva or Vertigo....what do ya guys think?

I've grown both the blue strains from short stuff. They are the worst autos in their line up. Try auto assassin or MI-5, those IMO are the best they have. Really bad potency issues on the blue strains. Bella Afrodita from Delicious seeds is fantastic, so is smurfberry from sagamantha, and Santa from flash seeds. Those will all yield well and give you something worth smoking. Don't get me wrong I love autos but those two blue strains are a waste of time.

cream caramel is awesome here are a couple pics of some that I grew. I have not grown la diva from delicious but have grown their bella afrodita, it was also an exceptional auto.bella2.jpgBella!.jpgBella side cola.jpgcarameltopview.jpgSweetCaramel.jpgA sweet caramel dream.jpg Happy shopping and best of luck with your grow man.

5 gallon pots are perfect for growing monster autos. Blast them with light at all angles, feed them well, and you get close to 2 oz per plant in about 60-70 days.

Best of luck

hoping for the best, I'm reading alot of mixed reviews about autos being outdoors.

yeah I tried that, unless they get a lot of light they'll be absurdly small. I think I got a joint off of one of them. If you're paying money for fem auto seeds its not a good idea, if you have a shitload of your own seeds sow em and hope for the best but don't count on getting much unless you have a very sunny area.

So you wouldn't recommend autoflowering strains outdoors in say the Kentucky/Indiana area? I was considering putting a few outdoors in May and getting a July harvest.

yes if you have the seeds to spare but I wouldn't bother putting a lot of time, money and effort into the grow. If you have sun, rock it out. I gave some auto seeds I made to a buddy who grew them outside with success. I would never pay 10 usd a seed and put them outside. In our area I'd say go for a grow during peak summer hours to maximize the plants exposure to the sun. June and July would be best.

I figure if I have a spare seed I might have a go at it and veg a plant out until it starts flowering and put her in a backpack and take her out to a field or something.
