Hello all, this is my first post on here, but I've been on the site since early 2009... I won't write a novel, but here's a bit about my grow, and my reason for getting into MMJ
This will be my first grow in a couple years, and my first indoor grow ever! The information on this site has been invaluable! I'm going to go with CFL, an SOG setup in perlite infused soil, using a 24 hour veg light cycle, and will (hopefully) switch to 12/12. I'm using bag seeds, heavy sativa influence, decent flavor for bricked and uncured buds - in re-hydrating and examining buds around the seeds I found that the herb was left too long, harvested over-ripe and not really "cured." It's still an acceptable smoke in my dry spell, and so should produce a much better end product when properly cared for.
As of this morning 1 seed has sprouted so far, 8 more in the soil (I'm not counting on them sprouting -- the heat was accidentally turned down and I think the seeds were "shocked" because they had just begun germinating.) I have 6 more germinating (and showing signs of life) that I'll be putting in the soil today. My set up is on the cheap because of employment issues right and finances As I can afford to upgrade, I will.
I started out as a medical patient in NM, after an accident left me with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and damaged a number of my joints/bones. I tried MMJ because I was tired of taking Vicoden, Oxy, and Percocet, along with an anti-depressant, mood stabilizer, and ADD meds multiple times a day, always feeling like a zombie - my doctor, a family friend, recommended I give MMJ a trial run. I will say that medicinal cannabis saved my life, and now makes it much better -- allows me to relax, live pain free with only a couple ibuprofen every few days and allows me to think and concentrate. There are a lot of other benefits that my family and I see daily (I can concentrate long enough to do advanced mathematics again, and am studying game theory in relation to traffic flow analysis with standardized traffic patterns, I can empathize with people in negative and/or painful situations, I no longer suffer rage fueled fugue states...) Even my "anti-drug," ultra-conservative, and religious mom supports my medical use of cannabis.
And with that: Hello and thanks for all the great information so far! I look forward to learning more as I progress, and returning the gift of knowledge by helping others!
