New guy request for Member support! RE: Feeding timer setting

New guy request for Member support! What is the most popular timer setting for sprinklers ON & OFF timing. I made a Rubbermaid setup,390 GPH pump, airstone & CFLs. I hope I get better results here, I had poor results thru other similar forum, this site, I hope is superior!! thank you all.

oh this site is superior in every way. you got photos of that? some guy was just asking about timings in NFT but it sounds like you're doing what I like to refer to as aerospring.

sprklr.jpghere is a pic of sprinkler action, 2nd pic shows 48 hours of root growth, suggestion for timer settings needed, I've read continuous on (non stop) to as fast as 5 seconds ON every 15 minutes, confusion surrounds this question, I guess there is much more, than 1 correct answer to the timing, I'll keep the experiment going and share results.

off for 15 minutes in that type of system seems a little long, you need a cycle timer that does 1 on 4 off or is adjustable in timings and set to something like that.

on all the time does create a little heat even with a relatively small pump but would probably be a better choice than 15 off.

I think the 5 second timing you're talking about may be for the true aero guys with the high pressure systems . in a system like yours timing isn't all that critical and aas long as you're keeping the roots wet you're good.

I used to love water pumps and sprayers too as you can see, I'd implement them in everything. nowadays I've chilled and just use the igloos as dwc and res for ebb and flow

Mr G, thanks again, do you think I'll get many member responses? so far you're the only one that has stepped up. I hope you're not the only one I find here, to share aero info. peace

We are newbies too, almost exact same setup. We are doing on 30 sec, off 7 minutes- so far so good. We were just talking about bumping it up to 10 min off, 45 sec on. I think rollitup forum is by far one of the best too. Even if people don't respond, they have already helped us in a million ways by being able to read past posts. Thanks and good luck op.

Thanks, that's music to my ears! I have to break down and buy the digital timer. I think some light gets through the Rubbermaid (top & sides) it is causing brown slime on some roots, peroxide helps. Thanks for sharing, do you pics? I'll check now.

I think light goes right through the top & sides of my Rubbermaid container, I think I'm gonna paint it black (outside only of course) Is it normal for PH to go up every 24 hours? u ever have algea grow on inside of your reservoirs?? thanks a million

I think the brown slime is due to overwatering.... Like I said, we are new too but so far, no algea... Our tubs are 18 gallon roughneck, mostly grey except for a few green. I haven't posted picks yet... Talk soon
