New grower all help welcome and much appreciated

I use 4 foot florescent and love them they do great you can grow with CFL's be sure to get Full Spectrum bulbs ,,Full spectrum bulbs are the same type of lighting professional studio's and photographers use is closest to natural light as you can get ,,,my plants are 4 foot tall I had 50 sent 30 to a friends flower room and have 20 in my room now,,all grown from florescent lightings ,,almost no heat low electric use and a 4 foot bulbs puts off great light and the plants love it,,I do have 1 150 HPS I only add it to the room in flower ,,,but is not needed they will flower just fine under the same lights

You running any COB currently? Kinda curious of the yield & quality difference if you are. I just got done with a 400W 8 COB CXB3070 build & I'm waiting for a GG#4 grow to finish up now under a 1K HPS before I can try it out.

Isn't it more economical to go with a 1000 watt ballast and run it dimmed to 600 watts.

Reason being is a 1000 watt ballast vs a 600 watt ballast isn't much difference in cost up front. However 1000 watt bulbs are less expensive than 600 watt bulbs. So if your change bulbs every six months you save $$ in the long run.

One thing to add, no matter what setup you go with, make sure you budget/plan for circulation and how you will exhaust the space and keep it cool...no matter what you pick light wise, watts=heat
