new grow room setup problem solving

I live in Upstate NY Zone 4 (-20+ in winter... 40 to 60inches fo snow
i am converting a 10’ x 13’ section of my 28’ x 13’ insulated ( r13) garage. T his section is in the back of the garage with 3 outside wall. The plan is to attach 1” foamboard to all walls and floor.Cover the fb with 1/2” drywall for the walls, the floor gets 1/2” cement backer board over the fb . The ceiling will be at 7’ foam board covered with panda film, all vent equipt up in the craw space between ceiling and roof, vented through the wall up high.
Then panda film alll walls and floor.
My most immediate need is for where to bring in fresh air for the grow room. the garage is where keep the tractor for plowing the snow in winter. I f bring fresh air from there would i need a carbon filter for incoming aorta filter out the Diesel fumes (would that even work). Current plan is to make a special vent for the tractor tail pipe to vent the fumes to the outside. (It won’t get all of the fumes). any opinions no photos at this time it is just a empty space 10’x13…'thanks

But I would think you could run a carbon filter on the intake as well to keep the smell of equipment from the grow room. I know how a garage smells of diesel and oil but hell I think they name some weed after these smells

I’m thinking an insulated but unheated, presumably, garage still gets pretty chilly so that could still be an issue as well if your in taking frigid air filtered or not

Fresh can be done with a filter but cold needs heat
And imo with those outdoor temps , again I’m assuming, the garage space is still cold . Too cold imo to be offset by lights

Hi, Another NYS Zone 4 person here. I don't know how you're going to make the heat thing work and I don't think 'running tractor' is either effective or financially viable. Good to be well insulated, but your best bet is some kind of electric heat source in the room beyond the lights.

dumb question immediately after starting the tractor why do you not let it roll forward out the door of the building to continue warming up outside? seems like a non issue, i think your biggest issue is wiring a mini split a/c that also has a heat pump for the temp in that room. also if your doing drywall might as well use fibreglass batts for insulation not foam itll be more effective.

The point here is that a tractor is started in the garage before plowing the driveway, then driven buck into the garage after plowing polluting the air that will be drawn to the grow room, the question Is will a carbon filter clean the incoming air to the grow room.

I plan to use a closed loop hot water baseboard radiator with a propane boiler. For heating. A mini-split heat-pump doesnt work at -20 or below.
pls note that there is r13 bats existent on walls and ceiling , the idea is to add r5 to the walls and to add a moisture proof layer to the walls etc

I don't think the carbon filter will scrub what you want from the air.

Natural gas not available too far in the sticks here. same for internet. But close to the res. ya think that hot water baseboard heat will work for grow room
I don't see why not. In a well insulated room it's a pretty even heat rather than forced hot air which tends to jackrabbit around. So, what that means is you really just set the therm and let it ride, and your consistency shouldn't be bad. Took us a while to get used to living with it after living with forced hot air or gravity hot air systems for a bunch. of years.

And I know what you mean about gas being available or not. A mile in one direction from us it's propane tanks/fuel oil, wells and septic. We're right on the edge. We have gas & sewer but our water is well. It played into our house decision. In most cases I could walk into a house, see the electric stove and know the full setup. Also, not having good fast consistent internet might kill me.

Hot water heat is really dry heat. But most heat is to some extent. I use a no vent propane wall furnace and constant ventilation through the flower room. Adds humidity and CO2. Good until about-10F then CO2 becomes an issue if it's not windy out.

Planning a vented tankless heater with a closed loop system. My room will be as air tight as possible. I’m getting AC infinity exst fans alround in and out. The build is starting next week, will post photos often, comments are always nice

Ah, the reverse here. Our cell service is patchy...but my cell will shunt to voice over wifi pretty seamlessly.

Big Fan of the AC Infinity stuff. Have both S6 and T6's in my tent setup and just upgraded to the Controller 67 which was well worth it. Even have one of the AC Infinity duct dampers on my exhaust.
