I don't know what's more stupid, neo-nazism, riu condoning it, quoting Voltaire in this context, or liking that post. Really NOT appropriate, NOT applicable, it's not a goal by itself... :wall::wall:

Fuck me... Idiocracy is here.
Who chooses when the Voltaire quote is applicable, and when not? Quis custodiet custodes? cn

the old communist leaders, all had one thing in common. if they lost a debate, the person would just "dissapear". not exactly a fair dear. to stand on a pedistal, and do this to anyone who doesent like your music. debate is debate. each one of is is one of a kind. so, we all need access. the current admin is showing its commie attitudes more and more. soon, they fall. and wish they hadent done .............that....

Maybe they keyed your car for spelling "censoring" wrong.

hhhmm.. Umadbro?

RIU isn't condoning neo-nazism.. this must be a touchy subject, sorry thats the case, feel free to cry on my shoulders~

Idiocracy because of the Voltaire quote? I guess we should just all agree with you to be on the winning side of this argument.. Smoke some more bowls, and re-read what you wrote... if it still doesn't sink in.. then YOU win ;)

At first I thought what a silly and irrelevant question, but I see now that in the age of idiocracy such a person could be useful. See, back when people where capable of using their brains, they really didn't need someone to choose for them when it's not applicable to neo-nazism - it was fucking obvious.

hhhmm.. Umadbro?
One moment please, let me get my Idiocracy-speak translator.... Ah ok, "mad" isn't applicable either, but your misplaced use of the quote is an insult as much to Voltaire, the human brain, and millions of people who have died.

I guess we should just all agree with you [laughs popularly and points finger trying to get backup from the other idiots] to be on the winning side of this argument..
At least you actually watched the movie :)

I already lost when I read your stupid misplaced use of Voltaire's quote and others liked it as if it were clever... My suggestion to you would be to smoke LESS bowls and re-read what 'you' wrote... though if you're dumb enough to quote Voltaire in regards to neo-nazis in the first place it's probably never going to sink in.

"I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." is supposedly not even actually a quote from Voltaire (google...) but likely based on something he said in his Essay on Tolerance: "Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too."

In any case, do you think that if Voltaire would have lived after WWII he would have suggested to give neo-nazis (and similar) a platform or even the light of day?? :wall: It's as dumb as taking the bible literally.

One more attempt: if some group in your city protests because they want to rape your dog, eat your wife and burn your children, would you defend their right to say it till death as well?

WHO SAID we condone it?
Is that a trick question? Add "would be" to my comparison if it got your panties in a twist (censoring, not deleting, deleting, condoning, was implied/suggested in several posts, and 'would be' imo as downright stupid as quoting Voltaire in this context.)

Of course... I go to a coffeeshop I haven't been for nearly a decade and the pinball machine is called... Cirqus Voltaire :eyesmoke:

You needed a translator for "Umadbro".. I guess you don't get out as much.. Gotta keep up with the "Idiocracy" slang terms bro, since society isn't as smart as you are :)

Not sure why your so "up-in-arms" with the whole Voltaire quote (which isn't probably a true quote by the man himself) --I told you to smoke more bowls because I felt you were going thru your MANRAG-- layman's term = a guy having a period :)

I felt that quote was ok in-regards to the context it was used, NietzscheKeen shared his opinions, and I felt he had every right to speak his mind.. IT WASNT EVEN ABOUT DEFENDING NEO-NAZISM --if you bothered to actually read the entire thread from the beginning, but hey, your Mr. Intellectual grammar nazi who wants to belittle people-- cool points for you :)

But in any case, I'm glad you got to look smart on an RIU thread, hope it helped your ego feel better about itself~ Now go pop on some Buchanan and rub one out~

This is not a right. Υour rights stops where the rights of the others begin. This poses a great threat to society, MY family & democrasy itself. I didn't see this group you guys talkin about but if it was a bunch of people talkin about their dislikes for a race of people or somethin like that, personally i don't find it the same with your quoted words above. I can like or dislike whoever i want & for any reason i want. I can dislike people who wear hats if i want becauze i don't like hats or just because... But i can't vilified publicly/murder/rape them.

you brought up the best point.

rights stop where the rights of others begin, a person's right to swing their fist ends at my face.

and while the sentiment of white separatism may not seem to cause obvious harm, that sentiment is deceiving.

white separatism is nothing but the kinder, gentler version of white supremacy. one does not wish to stop associating with someone unless they find that person abhorrent quite generally, so to stop associating with an entire race indiscriminately carries a certain ugly connotation to it.

and we saw the harm caused in this very nation not but 50 years ago when one race would exclude the other simply on basis of skin color. that is exactly why we have civil rights laws, and said laws are constitutional.*

another example of a prominent white separatist would be david duke, former grand wizard of the KKK.

i started this thread because i have noticed a recent influx of members who seem to share these white pride/separatism/nationalism/supremacy ideas, as well as several more that preach holocaust denial, which is another offshoot of neo-nazism. i do regret making this attack thread, but i just really do not like seeing this tripe and want to call it for what it is.

Amazing... So instead of realizing Voltaire is not applicable here you reduce neo-nazism to something not a threat to democracy, society, families ? (your selfishness is blinding you, bringing it close to home was the entire point of my example...)

Since you are so capable to determine what is a threat to society, family and democracy and what hate falls under the right of freedom of speech and what not, maybe you can help them to determine when to use Voltaire as well... Let me give you some advice: life's like a jigsaw puzzle, just because the shape fits doesn't mean the piece belongs there and the picture lines up.

Υour rights stops where the rights of the others begin.
A liberal point of view I much respect, however, that does NOT mean one should be tolerant towards intolerance. Freedom of speech and democracy are not goals, they are means to an end, 'a civilized society'. Being tolerant in any way towards neo-nazis may seem to fit shape-wise, it doesn't fit in the picture - at all. Which your own morals and logic should tell you instead of letting that override but some clever misplaced quote.

Let's see if this example 'hits home' then:
A group of muslim 'citizens' in NY is recruiting youngsters to fly into buildings handing out pamphlets with the WTC burning. Would you defend their right to say it till death as well? (don't let the question mark fool you, it's entirely rhetorical...)

Speaking of WTC... "we will never forget"... I'm starting to get the impression it only took 65 year or so for clearly some people to forget what nazism led to.... not just something from a movie. Have you not seen the many experiments that show how susceptible people are for their sick ideas?

Your poor high-school-yard level responses ("umadbro, are you on your period?") are at most entertaining but I don't do grudges anyway. As far as I'm concerned, what happens in TnT stays in TnT. And no, your ego getting a dent doesn't mean mine got a bump.

Some other idiot is going to read that, think it's clever, and repeat it in the same context. It's like going forward in time and seeing people thinking 2 girls and a cup is a cooking lesson... wouldn't you speak up?

Guy hits dog with fly squatter -> gets flamed.
Guy shoots raccoon -> gets flamed.
Neo-Nazis start a group -> oh... Voltaire said...
I point out the ridiculousness of the quote in this context -> "I'm glad you got to look smart on an RIU thread, hope it helped your ego feel better about itself~ your Mr. Intellectual grammar nazi who wants to belittle people" :wall:

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...
