Need help figuring out my soil situation...

So im getting ready to start my outdoor grow in less than a month now and had a few questions I was hoping you guys here at RIU could help me with.

I live in California in a desert. Im planning on planting 8 plants in my backyard...currently I have rock hard California dirt back there.

My question is, How can I prepare the soil back there for planting? I considered digging a 3'x3'x3' hole for each plant and using fox farm soil but that would take roughly $2000 in soil, so that is out of the question. I can spend up to $300 on soil preparation. What would you guys here at RIU recommend I do?

All suggestions welcome, +rep for good answers.

Thanks -Levi :bigjoint:

Dude, just go buy a bail or two of pro mix and some wormcastings and bat guano and mix it up. Plant in 5-10 gal containers like we told you in the other thread asking the same question.

It might cost you 150 bucks total.

40lb bag of topsoil - $2.00

8qt bag of vermiculite/perlite - $4.99

3lb bag Bone Meal - $7.00

not sure how many bags you'll need for each hole, but it wont cost you thousands.

i'm no expert, but the stuff above seems to be the bare minimum for vegging.

thanks for reminding me that i have 480lbs of dirt in the back of my car weeeeeeeeeeee

I see so if I just mix that shit in with the dirt then I wont even need to buy and potting soil...those the only things I should throw in with it?
