Need Help Determining Cause

I have been growing these for three weeks. They are clones from my mother plant and had roots before transplanting to these pots. Here's the info:

  • Medium: Premium Coco
  • Nutrients: Technaflora pHed w/ coco nutes added
    • Feed, water, water with a couple days in between each
  • Light Source: 400W MH about 18" from plant tops
  • Ambient Temperature: about 90 degrees F
  • CO2 added (closed system)
  • Fan is blowing
  • Water: RO
  • No Bugs
This is my first grow. Recently (less than a week) transplanted and added nutes. Was having sodium problems with mother and clones couple of weeks ago. Fixed that problem by not adding sodium bicarbonate to water for pH buffer. This is my first experience with HID lighting and man does it put out heat. Checked distance with hand and have determined that light is far enough away. Maybe this is transplant shock and should wait longer.43.jpg42.jpg3f.jpg40.jpg3e.jpg41.jpg

Any help is greatly appreciated.

They're starving, for one reason, or another. I don't grow coco, or hydro, but know someone who grows in coco, and does really well....look into some of the grows done by jondamon, and hopefully you'll be able to see what you're doing wrong. :)

Well, all those discolorations, are signs of deficiencies. Looks like you have multiple problems, actually. I'm guessing that either your ferts are lacking(trace nutes, mainly), or your PH is out of range for coco growing, or both. What range are you giving them, and...is your meter fairly reliable, and calibrated?

I try to keep the pH at 5.8 to 6. My meter is calibrated weekly. I will try adding some micronutes to the mix. I was having K lock out because of to much sodium. That was my fault for adding baking soda as a pH buffer to my water. I was trying to be exact. Stopped doing that and things were looking up. Mother plant became more green and leaves stopped dying. I will check the runoff for pH and see where that stands. Thanks again!

I think you are on the right track listening to jawbrodt and the micro nutrients.
Sorry to say this but i also think you better fix it quick. I had this happen in hydroton and in two weeks they were dead.

You do know r/o removes everything, including calcium and magnesium. Do you use cal-mag?

already using cal/mag for coco. just checked runoff pH is at 6.7. Just added solution of GH micro and pH it lower at 4.5. Runoff is now at 6.0. I will wait and see. Thanks Cruzer101 and jawbrodt

Whoa, you added 4.5 to your plants? That's a huge no-no! If you want your PH at 5.8(for example), you flush your coco with water PH'ed to 5.8, til the runoff comes out at 5.5, then feed them with your fert, mixed at 5.8. If you try to chase PH the way you've described, you'll constantly have problems. :)
