Near harvest No Fan Leaves lots of pics +rep

i had a problem with my fans also dying and falling off very early in flower and thats what ive always read and heard to that there suppose to. but im saying they started dying and falling off a weekor to into flower and never stopped. im in day 62 of flower right now and they are not even looking like they are ready. also look very weird from others ive grown and seen grown. what do yall think

Did you have any bug problems?

I had bugs that I had to treat for.

Im trying to narrow it down to

1# Pesticide
2# Ph Down

I've been fighting the same thing on most plants I have grown. The bushier the plant, the worse it seems to be for me. They go into 12/12 very green and bushy, and within 2-3 weeks most of the leaves are yellowing and dying off. I had been thinking it was insufficent lighting due to mostly low watt cfls. After lots of tinkering with my lights, I decided that was probably not the problem.

FWIW a shot of 2-0-2 alfalfa around the 2 week mark has improved things somewhat for me. My theory is that the plant is using up a bunch of N while they go through the stretching phase, depleting what's in the soil. That's just my opinion, which is probably worth what you're paying for it.

see i run a SoG and my other trays are fine 1 is 6 weeks 1 is 4 weeks and the other 2 weeks and a new one fixin to go in. the only ones that did it was the first ones none of the others are losing em they are all fine i had no bugs untill just a week a go i got mites on my clones and i really never use to much ph down

camel, what pesticides did you use, and when did u use them, how was your feeding schedule using the gh nutrients? did you go straight to flower nutrients first day of 12/12? btw, i use vinegar for my ph down

During the first week of flowering I used a vegetable powder pesticide, like Seven dust

I think I should have used something with neem oil. I regret using it, but it did successfully killed all my pest.

I didnt feed after dusting the plants. but when I did I was still on my Vegg nutes.
I typically use vegg nutes 2 weeks into flower.

Also I only use 1/4 strength pretty much the whole grow.

Where I think it's the PH Down that could also be the problem.


I would PH a 5 gallon bucket of water which was always high and adjust it with a bottle of PH DOWN.

I couldn't get a reading after adding my nutes cause I have the color tests strips.

So maybe adding my nutes dropped it to dangerous levels and then All the leaves fell off.

I didnt react like a maniac once leaves were falling off.
Like just feed the shit out of them or over water them.

I just continued my feeding regiment and waterings like normal and one by one all the fans yellowed and fell off.

So thats where Im at now. Bud that is taking for ever to finish.

On a side note

My 3 plants have absolutely NO MJ odor.
More like Urine. I didnt need any odor control this round whatsoever .

I mean I have the exasut blowing downstairs and you would think Im growing Basil and spices instead of Marijuana.

I was wondering about this problem too.
I lost most fan leaves maybe by two weeks after showing female, 3 1/2 wks 12/12
The ones i didn't lose, along with red/purple stems and leaves, led me to
think ph to low. By the time i figured this out, i had stopped using nutes.
The buds don't seem affected by the problem.
They may of been bigger, but the buds i got are really dense,.
I'll ph up next time to confirm, Used pure FFOF soil (ran out of perlite, and vermiculite)
so watered twice as often as normal. Thats why i'm thinking ph/lockout issue.

I want someone to confirm really Low ph means you can / will lose fan leaves.

i never had a problem with ph no issues with it always kept it 5.8

well the ph of my soil is high, and i am having this problem. i check my ph using bromythyl blue. i am always in the 5.9 - 6.3 range when i water. the other day i used half veg nutes (high in nitrogen) and half flower nutes. my yellowing leaves have dissapeared. i show signs of nute burn, i am thinking i am over fertilizing in potassium and/or phosphate, and underfertilizing in nitrogen. i switched nutrients suddenly...i think in the early stages of flowering (3 weeks) you still need lots of nitrogen. its not till late flower the plant does not like it, this is only a hypothesis of mine.

No Worries Chi. I havent harvested yet. That pic was just a sample bud I pulled. Im barely seeing cloudy trichs right now.

looks to me like you had nitrogen lockout in your roots.

I know people who always give their plant a little bit of N all throughout their life for just this reason. Im surprised with you giving vegg nutes 2 weeks into flower that this still happened. Once those trichomes and hairs turn a bit more I bet they will thicken nicely. Somone on here mentioned that without the fan leaves you might have to keep them growing for a while since there is no leaves to produce and take in anything.

Have you thought about giving your plants a little bit of N right now and then flushing again?? Can plant growth grow quick enough for it to be worth it and maybe mature those buds a bit more??? just a thought.....
