Potting soil, or top soil in nature has organic material in it. That is not soil that would Naturally have plants growing in it. I think if you do as weedster suggested and then allowed it to sit out in the sun, you would have bricks just like the Egyptians used to make with wet clay and hay.
Kingrow gave a very good suggestion though. Take all the food waste,apple cores, coffee grounds anything organic you can get your hands on. Add it to ground up grass, Hay. Maybe even some ground up bark and wood chips. Flip this and wet it down about every 3-4 weeks. You would have some pretty good useable soil. If you look at miracle grow potting soil. They use mainly composted Bark in a lot of America.
