I'm right there with you I've wanted to go for a long time. Dealt with everybody getting salty over it, acting likes snakes, stealing moneyi, and so much more and its all jealousy. I'd say pull the trigger on it and FUCK anyone who doesn't back you up or understand. Its your life not theirs. Good luck bro. I'm in the process of getting into a duplex and the lady is super chill and friendly even willing to hold it for us. Fresh air compared to everyones selfish attitudes around here. Don't let anybody take your dreams.

I had planned to move to Colorado around may 6-7. My reasoning behind the date lies with my job. I am a cook at a Mexican restaurant. Cinco det mayo is a huge business day for them, we prep extra food for 7 days, just to make it through one day.
If I quit before then, they'll be one guy short, or have to hire a new guy, basically being one guy short.
April 30 is a payday. I had originally planned on leaving april 30, but cause I'm a nice guy decided to stay and work the holiday.

I get to work today... They ask me point blank if I can stay until the END OF JUNE.
(Planned to leave april 30, then backed up to may 6-7, noe end of June???)

So they have to have a good reason right?

IF I do NOT stay until June 30...
NO ONE at this restaurant will get their 7 day paid vacation.

So its up to you Mike. Stay and give us a vacation. Or be THAT GUY. That ruins it for everyone.

This is a big decision man! I'm looking to move to Colorado where I can legally breed marijuana, which is something I've done before and WANT to do. I keep saying that once I move I'm basically retiring because weed is fun for me, not a "job"

So guys, what do you think? The decision is entirely on me I know but I wanted to share it and see what others thought.

I don't wanna be an asshole that makes you not have a vacation for two years. I also don't wanna stay any longed than I have to. But if I stay its a little extra money. But if I go the marijuana industry is lucrative.
Agree to stay. Work thru Cinco de Mayo like you originally agreed, then walk with your next check. No notice. No hints.

Motherfuckers can't figure out how to schedule work for a restaurant full of people, that's not your problem.

Please tell me you weren't planning on using this crew of winners as a job reference?

I'm going with the
If my friend in Colorado can't get a house set up then I can stay only until the house is ready so if you haven't had vacations, you're fucked.

I did tell them, to tell the boss (cause boss wouldn't say shit to me...)

That IF they want a guarantee that I stay, I need extra money.
I'm losing a week paid vacation, and I will have to work 5.5 days a week for 4 weeks.
If they're not willing to pay me extra for not getting a vacation and also having to work an extra 24 hours (1/2 day x 4= 24 hours) then I'm not willing to even consider it

They last took a vacation one year ago. I leave, they don't have enough manpower to take a vacation in June. Then they can't go on vacation til next june
Just listen to that stinking crock of shit fester. For a guilt trip like that, they better send you with Gucci!

I'm definitely staying to work cinco dey Mayo. If I gotta dip out no notice after my check, then I'm dipping out no notice when I get my check.

But I did agree (and specify) that I would work cinco de Mayo, so I can man up and work that and see what happens after. Hopefully my buddy will get the house situation worked out and I can plop down 5k in cash and be set for a while.

Your minimum wage is much higher than Illinois. I haven't made minimum wage for 3 years and I make about 9$ an hour. Are your consumable goods more expensive?
I'm going to get a license to grow out of my house (aforementioned medical conditions) but I might get a job to work a few hours while I wait for that all important first harvest. How hard would it be for someone with 16 years restaurant experience to get a decent (not fast food) job?

The more money the better surely. It kinda shows your work ethic and how hard of a worker you are the way patron is taking it.

Yeah. I got two margaritas tonight cause I'm a hard worker. Now I'm just drunk lol
Its not a "decision" that's up to me to be made. The decision was made November 1, 2015. I told them they can't guilt trip me into changing plans that were already set for six months. The only thing that would get me to stay would be
More money
My Colorado buddy can't break his lease til June.
That's it.
