Then your friend did something else wrong. I have temps reach 95 on the hottest days in the summer. 85 is NOT too hot. If you knew anything about growing, you would know that what you said is bullshit. Stop giving advice, it just confuses people that don't know any better.

lol.................:wall:
i agree sounds like his lights were too close and burned his plants. temps alone wouldnt make it crumble like that

Right, and that seems like common sense to me. Only someone with almost no knowledge of growing would say 85 degree temps will turn your plants into dust. I wish people would know their limits of knowledge and know when to keep their mouth shut. It makes matters worse for the person that needs help when they're being fed mis-information.

I think you may be making this more complicated for yourself then it needs to be man, it sounds like you're doing fine. Don't worry about your nutrients so much, like others have said a one or two part nutrient will do almost if not just as well as any expensive nutrient line. I used to sell nutrients and hydro gear and trust me, you're getting ripped off by using advanced. After this cycle you might want to look at Botanicare, or some organice stuff that you can mix and match.
Have you done a lot of research into fertilizer? It's always good to completely understand what your plant is doing and how they react to different chemicals you give them

I shall check those guys out.

I'm thinking of growing five slh plants in ten gallon containers under my.1k light. That's 200 Watts a plant. inn a grow.room 5.5 feet tall I'll have to top them but at what height?

i also agree that most additives are a joke. i use gh flora series 3 part formula. the only additive i use is some floralicious plus which has just about everything good in it in my opinion and a bennie tea which i brew myself. i have great results.

it seems you can spend as much or as little as you like on your nutrients and still get the same results. you know why, its because no matter what additives you jam into your plant its still only going to use what it needs and put the rest back so if you use a good complete base line nutrient and make sure its always got enough and not too much you will have happy plants that produce great buds

so im just gonna keep it simple with this next grow and just use base nutes. But, im seriosuly aiming for 4oz a plant or more in 6.5 gallon containers. assuming good soil and PH levels and what not, is this possible?
