Yeah dude no problem, thanks for stopping by. I was pretty impressed with that light as well, and I'm still debating whether I'm gonna try it or go HPS for the next setup. Let us know how it works out for you man!
And I don't know if you're interested in LED lighting at all, but HTG has the brand new generation of
UFO LED 90W fixtures on sale right now for like $180 or so. They're normally like $400, so its a pretty big price cut... cheapest I've seen them anywhere, at least. HTG is great, lots of good shit and really low prices. They do ebay auctions too, so you might even be able to get what you're looking for even cheaper than off their website.
Yeah the bulb on that HTG fixture is pretty unique. Allowed them to pack 5k lumens per bulb into a 2ft ballast. They've got another one thats like $20 cheaper that has identical specs only its 4ft long.
So I've been trying to decide what kind of lighting to go with for my next setup... and I think you might be the man to answer my questions. I'll be able to afford a 400w digital HID setup w/ inline cooling and the works, but I am wondering about the benifits of being able to place fluoros closer to the plant and decrease stretching. I want to grow really compact, bushy plants, and I guess I'm wondering if an HID placed high overhead is going to make that more difficult than using something like the T5 mentioned above that I can constantly keep just a couple inches above the plants (in addition to supplemental side lighting).
And I cut down your quote a little just to save room, btw. My quest to find out how lumens add ultimately ended with
this post, which you've probably already seen.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide lurk.
