Wow just when i thought i had heard it all, did you really "pre-split" your seeds? How are your germ rates?

Good Luck

My germ rates where good 3 out of 3 doing it that way. Probelms started when i put them in the soil!

Update
Sorry no pics my camrea broke hoping to get a new one tomorrow. My grow isnt going to good at the moment. The one that had sprouted doesnt seem to have grow any in the last day or so, but i think one of the other seeds looks like it will be popping up in the next day.

As for my cabinet well temps started rasing then while trying to fix that i knocked the cab over so now i only have one 20watt bulb working, hoping my babies will be ok for about 12 hours under just the one light! I think they should be since only one has sprouted so far. Temps are down now though, lol, that's the only good that came out of it proberly cos i only have one bulb working! I think i have had my fair share of bad luck with this grow now! Hopfully things will inprove after i have made some changes to my cab tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your camera hmmm.
Sounds like you're not having too much luck. Have you got more seeds if you have to start again?
What part of the UK are you? I'm in the West Country (Somerset).

I was up that way (ish) earlier this year, I went to watch West Ham play Bolton.
cost me £150 and about 5hrs driving to watch us lose 1-0. lol thats the hammers for ya.

Anyway i found this yesterday, it still isn't the one I was looking for but this is the type of thing that would suit your cab and keep the temps low. This particular lot will be out of time soon and it's also more money than you are wanting to spend but if you look closely, the bid on this lot is 41 quid for 4 units so they work out just over 10 quid each. You could have bought it and sold the other 3 maybe even get your money back so that yours cost nothing. It might be worth watching this seller, no doubt he either has got more of them or will get more. What do you think? Would they work?

240 V Hydroponic Lamp 900 LED Grow light Panel Red Blue on eBay, also LED Lighting, Lights, Lighting, Home Garden (end time 01-Jul-08 12:32:05 BST)
I'm liking it, a lot infact, thanks for the link.
Only problem is i had to down size my cab (update with pics later.) It just wasn't possible for my to have a cab that size and not get caught, couldn't get the light to stop leaking round the door either it looked like blackpool illuminations in my room lol. Thought all would be ok due to the cab being in my wardrobe but it was leaking that much light out you could still see the light shinning though the wardrobe! So that cab is now living in the shed my back up cab so to speak lol. Back to the point, so those led panels are 5cm too wide for my new cab! typical i proberly would have bought them if they were a bit smaller! Will be looking to see if there is anything simlar but that little bit smaller.

Hey

If your still having prob's germing try this. Soak seeds in a paper towel until they pop- put them in loosly compacted soil in a 16 oz plastic cup- cover the cup with a plastic bag, kinda like a greenhouse. Once sprouted, remove the bag every day for a few minutes until the sprout looks strong. The bag will prevent evaporation. As far as lights go, you'll need some more as the plants get older. My last LR2 grow i used over 150 real watts of cfl's and got tight buds, but if you go too low you'll get loose airy buds. I just harvested 2 more lowryders, this time using a t-5 setup. Anyway good luch with the grow- they are fun to grow and the smoke is better than some say it is

I would have bought those myself just to sell on if I had a few quid to spare. I just spent £50 this morning on a new MH light with ballast. That's how I came across those LEDs
I will keep an eye open and post any links if I see some more.
I know there is a smaller one, (UFO I think it's called) but it's about 200 quid.
Anyway, good luck growing with your new cab and your search for suitable lighting.

Updates-day 8.

Ok so i'm using i differnt cab now due to my last one not being sleath enough i had to down size a bit, i know not the best idea, but i didn't really have an option. My new cab is nearly light proof too which i'm pleased about. It mesures 87cm high by 53cm deep by 24cm wide. Still using the same lights and fans. (will get some more lights later on if need be.) Changed the electrics a bit though so it looks better and hopfully will be safer, since i now have everything plugged into 1 surge protected extension lead. Temps still at 80, but didnt really expect them to hav dropped by changing cabs after all i'm using the same fans. I think they will drop a bit though cos it's really hot here today which i think is effecting my temps. Will update later on about my plants when i have taken some pics of them.

Below are some pics of my new cab i'm now using, first pic is of the new extension i got. Hope my grow goes better now. Havn't had much luck so far!

Any opinions on how things could be improved would be great.

Update-day 8.
Ok first sorry about the bad pic quailty took them with my phone only means i have to take pics at the moment.

So to start with i germanated 3 seeds, 2 lowryder-2 and 1 swiss mix seed. I think the one that had sprouted was my swiss mix so i have put that in my green house now like intended, so no pics of that today. As for the other two well they don't seem to be doing anything! Still havn't popped though the soil yet, seems like forever since i planted them. Temps are now at 75 watered today as they seemed really dry again.

Update-day 1.
So since i havn't been having much luck with my lowryders so far, for the last couple of days i have been germanating 2 more lowryder seeds. (The same way i germanated the last ones.) All seems fine decided to put them in soil and in my cab about 30mins ago since i could see the roots clearly coming out the seed didn't think they could really stand another 14 hours being germanated so potted them up.

I have put clean film on the top of all my pots in my cab now as someone suggested in a hope that it will stop them from drying out so quick and keep the moisture in.

On to the pics, ok the first 4 pics are of my seeds before i planted them. then the last 3 are of them all together, the pots at the front are the ones that are 8 days in and as you can see still nothing! (Do people think i should start a new journal for my 2 newly planted seeds or keep them all in one journal together? Just wondered what people would prefer.) Oh forgot to mention only have 3 bulbs turned on in my cab at the minute decided to turn a couple off till they have sprouted.

Looking good hmmm. These babies are going to take of now I can feel it. I like the cab, you might want to think how to stop light getting in during the dark periods when you start flowering. Got plenty of time yet.
I am having the same thing with my temps, it's 80 outside so you cant get it down with out an AC or a couple of bttles of ice from the freezer.
Mine have been 80 all day today.

Yer mine hav only dropped slightly in the last hour or so my temps have been at 80 all day too, nice to have someone in the same country to compare to thanks for all the advice barking mad, i'm gonna put sum bottles of water in the freezer tomorrow i think incase the weather is as hot again don't really want my temps going any higher! I thought with lowryder because they where auto flowering you could have the lights on 24/7 even though flowering? Sure i read that, that's one of the reasons i picked them. Shouldn't be a problem though cos i have put the cab in the bak of my wardrobe now (it's a big slidding wardrobe from ikea.) So if needs be if i can shut the doors fully on my wardrobe and it should stop any light getting in. Bit worried about how much there gonna smell couldn't find any of the things to make a carbon scrubber at my local shop, i guess flowering is a while off yet, so i'll cross that bridge later on.

if looking at cfl's look at 1000bulbs.com they have a 105w (equal to 350w ind.) cfl that rates 6500k or 3000k with with 6300lumen for around $20, when mine arrived the box claims 6900lumens, dont let the pic on the website fool u this is a very big serious cfl around 11 inches long and 6 in. in dia. I will be starting an auto strain (prolly blueberry) in some cabinets i'm working on now each cabinet is W24xL36xH30 and will have 2 ea. of the 105w 6500k and 2 ea. of the 55w 2750k for a total of around 18000 lumens, i've grown lowryder 2's in the past in my aerogarden and they done great about an oz from each plant without a light tight area, i currently have 4 white widows fems in the closet under cfl's that are about a week into budding (my second grow attempt) my first grow ever im smoking now it was a white widow single plant that i grew hydro under cfl's and got a QP from the 1 plant. my next grow will be lowberry's in my aerogarden which i will create a journal in here for.

Thanks for dropping in do you by any change now how big the 125 watt dual cfl bulbs are? One like this, Dual 125w Hydroponics CFL & hanger grow light lamp bulb on eBay, also Hydroponics, Plants Seeds Bulbs, Garden Plants, Home Garden (end time 05-Jul-08 15:22:17 BST) Also Also are these bulbs too heavy to just hang down like my other cfl's? Because i was thinking of replacing my 20watt cfl in the middle to one simlar to the bulb i linked. Any opinions would be great. Thanks.

Updates.
Well my temps have been at 80 most of the day i think it's due to the hot weather at the moment though. The clean film idea is working great thanks however suggested that! Before i bothered with putting clean film on top of my pots my soil was drying out really quick i was having to water 2 to 3 times a day and was struggle to keep on top of it. But even after one day i can see changes they all look healthy, and i only had to water them once today due to the clean film i think. Didn't have to water them much either the soil wasn't all dryed up and crubbly like it has been. But looked a bit dry so thought i should water them before i kick back for the night. Will deffintly be putting clean film on all my pots of my new seeds until they spout in the future. Not sure when to remove the clean film if anyone has any ideas that would be great.

Update-day 9.
So where on day 9 now with 2 of my lowryder-2 seeds and for once things are looking up! Both of them have spouted in the last 24hours, not sure about one of them though as it already has leaves but doesn't seem to have a stem! What's all the about anyone no? There are just these to leaves layed just visiable onto of the soil, i can't see any stem! Things are maybe looking up for these two after all!

Update-day 2.
So i planted two more lowryder seeds yesterday not much to report well nothing infact didn't really expect there to be at this stage though.

Onto the pics! The first pic is of the two that are 9 days old, the second pic is of the two 2 day old plants, and the last is of them all together.

Keep it going bro, Your going to crack it with these ones I know you are.
As long as your temps don't go over 80 you should be fine.
Make sure you don't over water them, they will be fine going for a day even if the soil is dry, it will encourage root growth as they start searching for water. Don't worry if the top of the soil is dry, thats from the lights, there will probably still be moisture in the bottom.
Keep it up and skin up! :joint:

I just got my first auto-ak47 sprout fo my second grow so i'm interested in this grow. How much light are you using? i'll probably be using 200W throughout the grow but changing the bulb types.
