Well its been a few days since my last update so heres another one, the plants have been on tap water for 4 days and seem to be growing decently for being under CFL's, they are on there 5th node and the nodes are very tightly spaced, i have been feeding the plants every day with nutrient solution since i started fertilizing, i temporarly forgot that the plants absorb water a lot faster than they absorb nutrients and 2 days ago i noticed that there is some browning on the leaf tips of my veneno so for the past 2 days i have given them straight water and tonight i will be giving them another dose of the reccomended dosage for seedlings. There are some brown spots and some yellowing on some of the older growth i believe this is whats left of a calcium deficiency from using RO water with gh floramicro for hard water, i believe the brown spots are necrosis and the damaged leaves are doomed to fall off but i dont mind as long as i dont see it spreading to the younger growth...

Thanks for the rep shaggn its nice to be worthy of it once again lol, i want to turn my MH on and i believe the plants are ready but I'm not sure how far away i should place them from my light i was thinking of 18" because of this chart and then lowering it a bit day by day, what do you guys think?

You deserve it man, you went through a rough period and come out the other side smile'n :) You already caught your mistake before the build-up went to far. Make sure to flush the salts as I think Hempys grow so fast that there can be a lot left behind, especially with excessive feedings. I get that on my leaves occasionally and as soon as I notice it, I flush everytime. PH is the other most important part of hempys, the rest mostly just takes care of itself. I personally start my HiD bulbs at approx 2ft and lower the bulb slowly over the next week or so. Think of it as you suntanning under a couple cfls till your skin is only use to that light strength, then after an extended period of time go out under the sun in the middle of a cloudless summer day. I'm sure most would burn inside of a couple minutes, especially if you have skin like mine lol. 18" might be fine to start off at, just keep an eye for the first day. If no signs of stress, good to go. According to the chart, it implies that one could get their MH bulb 5" (400w) from the plant tops, which is closer than recommended height for the HPS. Lookin good my friend. Peace!!

I am happy to say that i turned on my HID today, i positioned my plants 18" away and i am going to keep a close eye on them for the next 24 hours, i positioned my oscillating fan so that it blows right above the plants across the light so every few seconds they get a decent little shake, i also reset my hygrometer so i can check the min/max temps over the first 24 hrs and put its probe at canopy level.

The chlorine in the water would kill micro beasties in the water and in the soil, but hydro growers don't need to worry so much about that i don't think, because the fertilizers are synthetic they don't need to be broken down by the micro organisms to feed the plant, I'm not sure if the same rules apply to people using synthetic fertilizers in soil or soiless mediums, i know organic growers are the ones who really like to cultivate a strong micro horde, but i do believe that synthetic fertilizers kill off micro organisms in farm land so i would assume the fertilizers you are using on your medium would do the same. If you really want to cultivate a strong micro horde you should brew some EWC tea for them I've heard it does wonders for nutrition and PH, As far as setting out the water goes I'm going to get a tub and fill it with water once the plants start using a lot so that i always have chlorine free water ready to go at room temperature...

Looking nice man are those big ones in your attic, lol i just noticed the angled walls and wasn't wondering if that was for light reflection or because it was in the attic, ether way there looking really nice and health man, i think those ww x bb buds are looking just about as big as my white russian was on harvest day, do you have a grow journal?
yeah m8, they're in AN attic, not mine and its a smaller than normal one too... TYPICAL! lol. i went to check and feed them earlier and they still look nowhere near 6 n half weeks but as they are from seed i should have waited to see pistils before classing them as being flowering week 1 etc. i went from day of flip, usual method for clones i believe. so they're more like 5 n half weeks, (and 5 n half fkn foot tall grrrrr), in theory they're having an extra week of flush, i already fed them to wk 6 and tonight was their last feeding, cant see it doing any harm tho......

oh yeah, i will start a journal for them now, i have one for my Belladonna but not these. bit late to start i suppose, but at least now is the prettiest time to start........ for the bud porn people. :dunce::dunce::dunce:

Yeah im sure i can find it man, i just didn't see one in your sig so i didn't know if i should bother looking, are you sure those plants are going to be ready to harvest have you checked them with a scope, week 6 seems pretty early to harvest specially if you don't know how long it took them to initiate flowering, seedlings usually take about 4 weeks to become sexually mature you can tell by whether or not the node spacing is symmetrical.

I just lowered my light to about 11 inches from the plants all has been going well so far max temp was 82 in my min max test so it looks like I'm good there, i cant wait for the growth to kick in seedling growth is so slow...

Well it looks like i got to close to fast, i woke up a few hours ago to check on my plants and the leaves seem to be wilting just a little bit, im not sure if it was the fan or the light that caused this so i backed the light off back up to 15 inches and moved the fan back just a bit as well...

the lowest i bring my 600 hps down is 14" from the tops, dunno if different strains are more tolerant of it being closer but most of mine, indica's, seem to cope well, there again, maybe i could get it closer but am too much of a shithouse to try and am losing 3oz a crop... :o

no mate, have no intention of cropping until my scope tells me its time to lol. they're at 6 weeks now but look like they're gonna need to go to at least 9 n half - 10 weeks, meaning im between 7 and 14 days behind MY schedule. She (the plant), dont give a fuck about my schedule though, she got her own agenda...... I'll have her back.... WHEN IM TOKING ON HER!!!!! AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!! biatch!!!

Lol i think i lost significant weight on my first grow due to distance, i kept my light at about 15 inches from the bulb for most of it not thinking about how much it could have effected yield and i only got 5 to 5 1/2 oz it was a bit less than i expected but it was some killer smoke pretty sure its the best I've ever smoked, so i was pretty pleased with how it turned out...

decided, as the plant in the middle and directly under the bulb is the mutant short arse biatch, to drop it to 12 inches, @ 2" every other day, from the top of the tallest plant, 4 largest are in each corner. it will still be 20" from the midget but 6" closer to the rest of them....

My 600 is positioned 8" from my tops. Have always put them that close. Ran a pair of 600 parabolics at 8" also, just had to get a bigger fan to deal with the heat dispersal. Peace!!

How are things going? They taking the 400 better now? I know you said they were kinda drooping the other day. Did they bounce back?

Yeah man they bounced back the next day after i raised the light a bit, i checked on them today and every thing seems to be going well, I'm not sure what is up with the critical + though its got a funny look about it, i noticed I've got some vivid bits of purple stem on all 3 of the plants, the veneno more so than any of the others, but every thing seems to be moving along and i see no other signs of any problems, i also checked on the roots today i left the bottom of the 2 liter bottles unduct taped so i could take a peak for roots and i found that all 3 of the plants have reached the reservoir, im going to wait until ive got one more healthy node coming in and then top the plants.

So i lowered my hood to 9-10 inches away from my plants, I'm measuring from the hood here not the bulb and the light is mounted above the plants but on the other side of the hood so its probably more like 12-13 inches from the bulb anyways with in about 6 hours of lowering the hood this morning I've found that the plants are wilting again, they are not looking to bad so im not sure if i should leave the light there so they can learn to take the heat or not, what do you guys think, the semi noticeable wilting is the only effect i can see at the moment what do you guys think should i raise my light or see if they can take the heat? Also when i water tonight I'm going to give them a half strength dose for veg so im bumping them up to 1/2 tsp of grow bloom and micro i read the bottle and was originally going to go for a full strength dose but i really don't want to burn my plants but i have noticed that my leaves seem a little to light green and washed out so I'm going to try and bump up the ppm...

I watered early this morning with a half strength dose of the mild veg dosage, the plants seem to be doing fine so far but i have noticed that there are some brown spots spreading on some of the younger growth, it doesn't look like nutrient burn to me, it also doesn't seem to serious yet, I'm wondering if maybe the older growth that has not experienced the HID is not taking it well, the plants seem to be reacting strangely to the light some times there wilted some times there not, I'm wondering if my humidity isn't high enough its pretty low at the moment... I also noticed when i checked on them today that my critical + automatic is flowering already i was hoping i would be able to get it to 1 foot tall before it flowered, i don't know if this is a blessing or a curse because i don't know how i am going to manage something so small in my scrog system but i am about to run out of weed...

Good to hear they are doing fine. The wilting could be humidity but I highly doubt it. I have super low humidity in my veg tent and have no wilting at all. I would say they are taking a bit to getting use to the more powerful HiD. That being said, some strains are finicky and this could be a case of that. They are all reacting the same, means it's something they are all getting equally. As to your brown spots, did you PH test your nutrient mix? How are your temps? When attempting to find environment problems make sure to make single changes so you can figure out what is causing the problem, If you raise the light and flush at or close to the same time you won't know which one was the problem. Aside from your slight issues, they look extremely better than they did :) I'd send you some meds but you Country doesn't like people like me lol. Peace!!

The temps at canopy level have been 69-81 F with 20%-22% RH, i ph balance my nutes and water 5.8-6.2 is the range i have been hitting, i haven't tested the run off because i assumed it wasn't necessary since i am balancing it every time i water, my feeding schedule has been a bit crazy but im pretty sure its been on the low end of the ppm spectrum, I've been watering with a cup or so of nutes then giving them a cup of straight water every day for 2 days then nutes again... I've looked for information on feeding and watering and i get a lot of different answers, i am going to start watering every 2-3 days since they hit the res but i was just curious how do you feed shag, do you feed with every watering, feed and then water than feed or what, also how much water do you feed your 2 liters once they are well established?
