I'm growing a sativa indoors and so far this is what worked for me. Flourescents extremely close to the top of the little plants. I started flowering at 7 inches tall. I kept the 400 watt hps right around a foot above it checking it daily for heat stress. I tend to always let the medium (dirt) almost completely dry before watering. I think one of the big problems with overwatering is after you do it for so long you "mat" the dirt down so that the roots are starved for air henceforth killing them and giving you a nutrient defiency. This is jsut my thoughts on it, I could be wrong. And I didnt' give them any nutes till it was about 3 weeks old.

That's a big plant, my advice would be to start flowering early around 8-10 inches. When the plant is about 4 foot tall the bottom branches arent' going to get as much light and you'll have something that looks like mine only taller. Do what some of these guys do and do that bending or something. You have a 400 watt light like myself. I only wish now that I did some bending to get multiple bud sites. Hindsight is 20/20. and btw I have a 3.5 gallon bucket for my plant and the roots are beginning to get bound.

so when they'll get about 8-10 inches, i shall start the flowering period. I'm about to transplant the plant in to some bigger pots, and i'll bury most of the plant, so i'll reduce the stretching.
the flowering period is about to come... and i looked over for a NPK nutrient for the flowering stage... the thing is i can't find something like 10-20-10 or 10-30-10 ... i found something like 10-20-20....

i did found 2 types of nutrient which i'll use for flowering.
Which one should i use?

The first contain :

N - 3.5%
P - 7.5%
K - 7.5%

and microelements Mg: 0.01%, Zn:0.01%, Mn:0.01%, Cu:0.01%, B:0.02%, Fe:0.02%, Mo: 0.001%
(to mention that is mentioned to be used for cactus)

and the second :

N - 4.5%
P - 7.0 %
K - 9.0%

and microelements mg/kg : Mg: 100, Fe: 200, Zn:100, Mn:100, Cu:100, B:200, Mo:10.
this is mentioned to be used for carrots, tomatoes, peppers etc

Keep the lights on them so they know which way to head for

18/6 is better than 24/0, gives the plants a chance to cool down, they would have a night time if they were grown naturally outside, no matter where you were in the world.

you would want to keep them in small pots to begin with like your doing to make sure the roots devlop in that confined space for a short time, so that the roots dont grow directly to the bottom of the pot, following the drainage, nutrient deficiency is a possibility, but if your using soil it should be already enriched with nutrients and carry on doing so for the first 3-4 weeks at least, the cup sizes shouldnt really have much to do with it because at the size they were at then the roots would have been quite minimal

my personal preference out of those two would be the first as the p,k is in good ratio to the nitrogen, so for the amounts you put in and got to the required ppm level you would have higher levels of pk in relation to the nitrogen.

see nongreenthumb, after reading over the internet, and many journals, if i ask something, everybody start screaming at me, because i didn't read the whole forum, and so i wont be needed to ask those "begginer" questions.
but there are several ways "they" grow marijuana, so everybody will came up with his ideea. The lights where 18/24, but now they are 24/24, as an user told me to.... i guess nobody work the same....
regarding the NPK thanks for advice.

day 17 of veg, dunno why the leaves are getting a bit yellow..... after they recover... and feels like the end of the leaves are falling downwards.... for this straing, Sensiseeds said flowering period is 45-50 days. What about veg? Other growers have bigger plants in 17 days....

Yes, it is always a good idea to check your ph every other day in hydro,
and before you feed in soil. The plant can only uptake the nutrients it needs in a certain ph range. 5.5-6.5 ph seems to be the spectrum.
Get a basic ph meter with extra calibrating solution, and you should be good to go.

ok, what about lowering the PH? how can i do that?

i did bought an PH tester.... i don't know if i'm using it correctly, but it does show nothing! It remains standard, i mean 7!
also.... some nutes, N-P-K 13-4.5-6.5

so .... i did make it to check the ph...the water is somewhere around 6.0-6.5
i think the humidity is low... how can i raise the humidity?

man, this is probably bad, but I water w/ regular tap water, don't check humididty, and don't have ventilation...... they are growing fine so far

so ph is good, nutrient i haven't given, except today, when i give it some nutes because i may think it's because the soil is poor in nutes.... i don't know...
anyway, do you think it may be because i left the lights 24/24? it's better to use 18/24?
