ozgirl co2 is waste of time unless you control it in a completely closed environment. It won't help you in that tent IMO sns

Thanks for the advice doowmd, I'll keep an eye on it, I've already had to deal with fungas gnat, and its not fun, have you tried any other way to get co2 in the grow, or do you just not bother anymore.
Have to admit I just said fuck it and never tried w/ anymore "do it yourself" Co2. Although I do add dry molasses to the soil mix for similar purposes.(make the buds frostier/more sticky/smell sweeter) I buy it at the local feed store for like $12 dollars (US) for a 50# bag. I Mix about 3 cups into every batch of soil I mix up (usually five gallons worth of spaghnum peat moss/potting soil/worm castings/perlite/wood ash/lime)

Well another wednsday is upon us, so time for a new update, everything seems to be going well. I have named my girl bertha the beast, as she has just been growing out of control, and making herself very cosy in the tent. All the tips have oodles of white hairs coming out, Ive tried to zoom in but as you all know im not good at close up.
SDC11158.jpgSDC11161.jpg

I have just released lady bugs into the tent, as I saw a few bugs the other day, and knew the lady bugs would be all over it, I got the kids to catch a few from the rose garden in the local park. They are so cute fully patrolling every nook and cranny of the plant devouring any bugs they find. I've also added some wet paper towel and sultanas to keep them fed and happy so I can keep them as permanant residents 'hopefully' They have been there 2 days now, and seem very happy to stay.

SDC11154.jpgSDC11156.jpgSDC11152.jpg

Here is the 3 soil grown seedlings, 1 laughing buddah, 1 blue hash, 1 blue widow. all fem, I love the last one how the middle leaf is sitting over the outer leaves.

SDC11147.jpgSDC11146.jpg

Here is the seedlings which will be grown in the ebb and flow, this will be my only non organic grow, and im only using the chemicles in this because I paid $100 for the set and I'll be damned if I throw it away.
They are currently having 1/8 strength mix, and im seriously contemplating seasol or something just to help with the roots, it is great stuff.
In here I have 1 white widow x big bud, & another laughing buddah. I was planning on having both buddahs in here however the other one grew such a tall stem with no support I changed last minute and have done it this way.

SDC11153.jpg
And lastly I have 2 more clones from bertha, I just couldn't resist another go at getting this right, I was following grumpy old dreamers collodial silver thread, and really want to attempt making my own feminised seeds. I may be getting a bit ahead of myself here, but heck you gotta have goals right:lol:

hey ozgirl. hahaha farout you got some plants going where you growing all those seedlings and clones.

bertha looks great she's got plenty of room in that tent.

also be careful with ya ebb an flow setup my first ever go at hydro had the set up worked well but my roots grew down into the pump and stuffed it so just keep an eye on that.

yeah and why not have a crack at the collodial silver ya dnt learn unless you experiment.

Your plants look great Ozgirl. You have overcome a few tough obstacles in your grow. I am thinking you know what you are doing. I like the bag seed girl. She reminds me of my Big Momma. I have been working 12 hours a day every day since 4/08, I didn't want 4/20 to go by without checking in. I'm off Sunday, so I will take the time to update then I hope. Here is a preview from a pic took today.DSCF0216.jpg

Hey J, thanks, yeah its funny now, having to face the issue of where to put all the plants, especially when a few weeks ago everything looked grim on the seed department. I didn't know if bertha would be a girl, and wanted something in there straight away if balls appeared. For now they are divided by the downstairs bathroom and laundry with the cfl's, and I'll just have to make do like that until im finished with the tent, then they should hopefully be topped and ready for flower :) if all goes to plan.
And thanks for the advice on the pump, I'll keep my eye on that for sure.

Hey there sns, wow thanks for the pic, gosh I hope my girl is looking like that in a few weeks, I know I'll be a happy girl if it does, and thanks heaps for the compliment, I think im a noob who got lucky, especially for accidently stumbling across you, illumination, and UB, who after countless hours reading till my eyes bled for weeks managed to change my whole way of thinking, and now its all organic all the way. I only wish I had of discovered my love of growing all things organically and properly years ago.
Im having so much fun, and just keep learning more each day, my mel franks book is on the way now, I did have to reorder like you said, cant wait for that to arrive.

Oh yeah, I took the bottles with yeast sugar and water out of the tent, I am still using the co2 enricher from the hydro store now, and just put it infront of the intake fan to suck it inside, it might not work but it doesn't seem to be hurting so, I'll keep it going just incase it helps even a little :)

Well its not wednsday yet, but I couldn't resist putting a few pics up, im so excited now as there is actually buds growing now. And I have put some little hook screws in the pot to gently pull back the outside branches to allow light into the middle of the plant, which seems to be helping however the outside tall branches are alot taller than the middle stuff, so its probly still not getting the light it should.
IMG_0250.jpgIMG_0251.jpgIMG_0257.jpgIMG_0248.jpg

IMG_0253.jpgIMG_0252.jpg
These are 2 of my weird growing leaves, one has 10 points on it, the other has a really small middle point, and there is several others like these, and then half of the leaves are perfect 5 and 7 point leaves, some with really jaggered edges, some not so much.
I also have a stem with 2 leaves growing out of it together, but couldn't find it in there and didn't want to mess with the plant to much finding it, but these shots give a good idea of what is happening.
And im not concerned about it, as the plant looks very healthy to me, I just find it bizare :eyesmoke:

Well my first 6 died, but I did take 2 more, and have used a rooting powder this time, and watered with a week mix of seed and clone hormone, so far so good (there not dead lol) but I dont know if they have rooted, there doesn't seem to be any new growth yet, but they are still as green as when they were cut, one is in soil, one in rockwool, so I will see what happens.

Hey hey hey, im fasionably late again lol FROM PAGE 5!!

Well where do i start...shit im gonna have to go back again and jot down notes ;)
Ah thats right first one was the chook, nah Darl they will be fine in the paddock with ya girls....try this get a couple together and throw down some chook feed and some iceburg lettuce at the same time see which one they will go for?....its the roo's and wallaby's ya gotta watch out for, they neck any green shoot they come across even briar rose!
What did she die of? the chook i mean, was she old or did a dog/fox get her?

Im happy to hear that you have gotton rid of the gnats, so its probally best to chuck the homemade bottle away, these tents that you and i run arent totally sealed, all the seems and zipper's would leak air, it may be 92-96% light proof ( i guessed those numbers ;)) so having Co2 in an un controlled enviroment is a waist in my opinion, same here im not gonna bother, plus my temps are under control with my cooltube and 6 fuggen fans!!! hahah lol

With the clones and the esky...well yeah lesson learned, you too J, whatever atmosphere is inside the esky that temp will remain the same if it is insulated against the sun, but as soon as you open the lid and place it in direct sunlight,it will turn itself into a hot box, they are only atmospheric insulators not light and radiant heat insulators, i first learnt this by filling my drink esky cooler with warm cordial and put in the fridge over night, well the fucking outside plastic was cold but the cordial was still warm on the inside and i was like -- what the farrk! anyway im ramblin on.....

the Girls are looking absolutely fabulous (i loved that show!) and congrats on some of the clones taking off, as for the big side arms on your flowering mums, it's ok to super crop 2wks into flower if you have stable gentics, i used to do it as well, shit i tie them up hardcore, none of this LST mine is HST!!! hahaha. Hey isnt Lumi a character he makes me laugh hard...im glad you have goals set Ozzy i think Grumpy has got everyone perked up about his collidial silver experiment....good to see you wanna have a crack.

with the ebb+flow all im gonna say is watch your res like a hawk.....use H202 every 2-3days and dont water them for 15mins at a time, get yaself a $17 digital timer and flood for only long it takes to reach you draining point, mine is 40secs, so i flood for 1min....since that and using H202, and watching and cleaning out my res all has been ok...lesson learned for me, i will probally chuck them as i stunted them WAY too much, so i actually just placed 5 germed skunk#1's into RW cubes just then..... :D

Also i'm sorry for not being there when you probally would of liked me to.....im a fucktard by not hitting the Sub button....i will do it now !

peace sweetie!

Hey there tricka, good to see ya over here. With the chook I dont know what she died of, but with the floods my back yard copped a bit of water and the pens were about 20cm under water, and it was disgusting, I had to move them to another dry shed, but I think a few of them drank from the yukky water before I moved them, and made them sick, I've lost 2 now, one right after it happened, and the other a few weeks back but she was off color since the floods. The others are all healthy though, good to hear they wont eat my buds lol, and I dont get the roo's or wallabies through here, so should be all good.

Now you got me a bit worried about the h202 thing in the res, firstly, what are you using it for, is it to prevent root rot or something? Is it safe to mix with chemicle nutrients, and you say to add it every 2-3 days, how much should I add to 25 litres?? sorry to bombard you with q's

Absolutley fabulous haha, lol I remember that show.

H202 is hydrogen peroxide, and yeah J, as Odlaw pointed out to me Oxy plus (in a black bottle - very reconisable) is 50% solution, its industrial grade but still good, there is food and medical grade as well, shops arent allowed to sell "hydrogen peroxide" but somehow oxyplus is available. i have a bottle of that and a litre of 35% food grade i can give you a link for that as it was sent from QLD anyway lol. the bottle came in a vacumn seald bag and it also came with a 250mm medical flask and a sweet arse dropper (its the tiniest drop i have ever seen, great for things like drug manufactoring, sorry i meant mixing solutions ;)

its safe with everything without getting into chemical structure's all it does it looses an oxygen atom hense the oxidising effect it gives off, i had a crazy link that explained everything but i dont know where it is?? I'll try and find it for you,,,,,as the oxadisation is so violent it kils bacteria, just watch out for your bennies if you are using them, as they can be affected as well...i know you are a fan of the organic guys from the states but chem is sweet also, each to their own ;)

SDC11228.jpgSDC11237.jpgSDC11226.jpgSDC11229.jpgOk time for an update on bertha, I have taken some new pics so you can see how she is coming along, for some reason the last pic is upside down, its now been just over 4 weeks since I switched to 12/12, and being my first I have nothing to compare it too, but I think its going good.
One thing im still unsure of though is wether flowering is counted from the day you switch to 12/12 or from the day the first pre flowers appear?? If anyone knows please fill me in.
I will get some photos of the little ones soon and put them up aswell.

Tricka, thanks, and yeah I love the organic stuff, but I have no issue with anyone using chemicles, im using them myself on this round with my ebb and flow because I'd already bought them, they cost alot, and I dont want to waste it. :)

Here is the laughing buddah, and the white widow x big bud in the eb and flow, they are both doing well, but the buddah is booming in here, and will be topped very soon.

SDC11246.jpgSDC11247.jpgSDC11251.jpg
These 3 in the soil arnt doing as well, the one in the middle is the buddah, and the 2 ends are the blue hash and blue widow, got a feeling im keeping the soil to moist all the time, might let it dry out better, and then feed them up.

SDC11245.jpgSDC11244.jpg
These are my 2 clones, the clone in the soil has very obvious new growth in the middle now, the othe in the rockwool has very little, but it still looks good, so I still have hope.

J, thanks, and yeah thats what I was hoping, so hopefully the next 4 to 6 weeks I should be able to harvest it :)

Hi, great to have you along for the ride. The WW xBB is the best out of all of them, its on its 4th set of nodes, but so short, no room between nodes, and the leaves are huge. Im just waiting until my big plant finishes and they will be straight in the tent :)

Oh yes with the soil as well, your right, thats what I did with the plant in the tent, dont know what I was thinking.
