my first grow box in 10 yrs.

Hello all. my first grow in 10 yrs give me your opinions please. not useing normal nutes lol. im using 1/4 strengh rose food (1/4 tbls./gal.) (18-24-16), bananna peel (one whole peel), epsom salt (tbls./gal, galv. nails, fraiming nails, drywall and superthrive (10 drops/gal). let set two week and give all plants 1 c feed and 2 c. tap water. my own receipt seems to be working wonders (veg box only, flowering plants mix is less superthrive.
veg box is 2'x4'x4', i keep the ceiling 5" above my lights to maximize reflection. im using 4-26w daylight 6500k and 1700lumens/bulb.
flower box is 4'x4'x5', lighting--2 -4' t5 fixtures set 2' off floor, 2-42w 2700k 2800lumens/bulb set on floor for under canapy, 400w hps that i keep 10-16 inches above my plants. fan blowing across light to cool temps on plants.
whole set up is in my shed and i live in a northern state. i keep the lights on at night to compensate for heat. going to tie into my house main trunk and put in a 6" duct to the flower box only for dark period.
so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. please leave comments so i know what ev1 thinks. thanks. i put 4 new clones in the flower box last night (11-24). this will be there first 12/12 cycle. (big bud strain)

well i decided to take the cola today on my big bud plant. i figured it out to be at 8-9 weeks old after talking to a friend of mine. im going to let the rest of the plant go for another week to try to fatten up the popcorns. top bud weighs 36.5 g just off the plant. again i know my camera sucks only have a web cam.

yeh mate......camera isnt great but i dont think you deserved that third comment.....can see that youv'e done a good job and your main cola looks fat. What height did you flower at nd how tall did they finish flowering.
just get a bit of scope on the plants!....

Thanks i appreciate that. well i want to say somewere around 14" when i moved to flower. 3' when i cut off the top. i also have a grandaddy purp that is almost muture. the two were put into flowering on the same day. i think i need to wait on the gdp it is looking really nice, im pretty sure it is a 10-12 week flower. i wish i had a better camera sorry again ev1. if anyone knows how long on the gdp flower cycle from experiance growing the strain please let me know. thanks again.

yeh mate its pretty savage...ive just put mine into flowering so just had a 24 hr dark period so are looking lush. they are at 17 inch right now.

what nutes did you use and is that weight shown just off the main cola. if so how much did the minor colas produce?

and to answer your q! well what i would do is get a small magnifying glass and see what colour the trichomes are best way of telling if 60-75% of them are brown the cut it. i say 60-75 because it depends on what kind of smoke you like!

i got a magnifying glass last night 6x is all i could find. the weight is just the main cola havent harvested the rest of the plant. im glad i didnt trichomes only 50% DAMNIT. oh well lesson learned probably could have got another 25g out of her lol. well at least i didnt pull the whole thing. and i really like the hard hitting body buzz I'm really not using nutes cant afford any but i have thrown together my own tea for feeding along with superthrive. im using 1/4 strengh rose food (1/4 tbls./gal.) OK Question for you. what do you think about a heating blanket under my pots for the winter for a little extra warmth to the roots since my whole setup is in my shed and it is almost snowing outside infact got some last night. i let the lights stay on at night and the temps are running between 65-75 lights on and 20-25 degrees cooler when lights are out because it is only 30 outside lol. im trying to avoid tying into my main house heat but if i have to i have to.

well bud dont be so sure! if you have left it longer the stone may have changed and you may of not enjoyed it as much because the CBD levels change! look at it that way.

i doubt you would have got another 25g out of one cola also....the bud is already formed so if 50% are brown you prbs harvested a week early so strength will be slightly compromised, there isnt much bud formation in the last week. this is why most commercial growers cut it early to get the weed through and plant the next lot.

as for temperature i would just invest in a cheap heater!! an electric blanket will warm the pots but not sure how much heat the blanket radiates so you might still get frost tops even though you have warm roots and besides the amount of electricity those things use your actually better off just buying a heater......i got an electric one for £15 so probably about $25. and that will warm the whole shed and keep your ladies warm. mine came with a 3 settings. cool hot and hotter! so you can use it in the summer to keep the temps down!

thanks alot for the advise do you think i should hang the rest of the plant and deal with what i yeild. i dont want to lose anymore potentciey. it is nothing more then personal smoke. I found a convection heater yesterday that dont put out a glow and it has a thermostate built in for $49.99. im going to buy one for the flower box. Again Thanks for all your advise.

Hello all. I started a new baby 4 days ago. she germinated in a air tight container between moist papertowel set inside the furnace to keep humid, in 48 hrs had a 2" root so i put the seed in soil 1/2 below the surface and used a nail to create a hole for the root, sprayed until my pot doubleld in weight. here are a couple pics. im just going to keep posting in the same thread for now. OH and the best part is the seed is from a strain grown in hawaii. my girlfriend was born there and her mother got me a dozen seeds. im going to start them 30 days apart lol

no clue what phenotype is my guess is strain,and ma dont know either she just said some of the best smoke she's ever had.

well not knowing what strain, im going to do some research on
characteristics of strains primarily grown in Hawaii. when i get done i will give you my opinions.( big bud cola dried and is curing 8.7g after i cul it off the stemLOL. oh well still have the rest of the plant going to take her this weekend can't wait any longer.)
