My First Grow: Bagseed, all CFL

Hey Everyone,

So sunday was 2 weeks since these were put into the paper towel. Most of these are 2 weeks +/- a day or so from sprouting. I am noticing some of the plants are starting to turn yellow. I am hoping this means "feed me", but coupled with the droopy leaves i think it means "I am drowning!!!". Since the yellow showed up 3 days ago i havent added any water, and they still seem a bit damp. Please tell me what you think, and what i should do if anything. The soild DOES have some slow release nutes in it, but at just

0.15 - 0.05 - 0.10 i think its not anything to be worried about.

So this morning when I checked on the seedlings the curling of the leaves got really bad, and the heat monitor said it got to 88. I am guessing where the plants are is 5 to 10 degrees hotter then that. The outside temps have been up and down, which is causing me to constantly adjust the heat. I hope I didn't do any permanent damage.

Anyone know if the yellowing above is over watering or lack of nutes?

Tap water that I let sit out for at least 24hrs

Have you checked your PH, the easist way is to buy distilled water and add about 1/2-1 teaspoon of CalMag to a gallon if you cant check PH

Cal Mag LOL sorry, also with distilled water when you add nutes it always puts me right where I want the PH, I love distilled water its damn near fool proof.

P.S. I have yet to check my PH my whole grow and look how healthy they are. Distilled Water!!!

Check the PH of the soil, water, or both. This part always confused me. I have a soil PH kit. You think I have a PH problem?

So the PH of the soil seems Okay, it might lean tward the Alkali side. I just discovered my test kit sucks, so its hard to tell lol. So do you folks think the yellowing is a mag deficient? Could i get away with adding Epsom salts, and if so how much per gal? Just cuz i'm budget sensitive right now and i have the epsom on hand.

I could be but or some other def. but it looks like very early mag def, or nitro def. You can add epsom salt only like 1/2tsp a gallon will do.

Quick Update:

Checked on the plants this morning. Leaves seem to be less droopy and some of them seem totally healed from the overwatering. PHEW! I have a few cups that didnt sprout and I am using those to test how wet the soil is. Its still pretty moist half way down the cup, so and some of the leaves are still droopy so I am going to hold off watering for another day or so.

When I do water I plan on adding 1/2 tsp of diluted epsom salt and 1TBSP of Big Bloom per gallon. Hopefully this will stop the yellowing!

That sounds like a bit much food for them this stage, you may slowly build up to that much like right now I would 1.5-2ml. and slowly raise it after two waterings, and do your leaf's ever stick up in the air as if they are yawning?

1.5 - 2.0 mg or ml?

I have one plant with leaves sticking up, if you take a look at the update on 2/14 and look at the 5th from the last pick (1j-side.jpg), is that what you are talking about?

Yes that's it sometimes a little higher that's how you wanna keep your plants looking if the leaf's drop lower than a even stretch water them, and the leaves will rise up again for a while do not water again til they drop lower than a even stretch to the side, and when watering you don't have to soak the soil just enough to get it moist for now

P.S. ml. Ha sorry damn NL x G13 :shock:

, also really looking at there size you may even wanna start the nutes at about .5ml to a gallon to be safe which is always better than sorry.

I went and looked again, the plants seemed really unhappy and sickly so i watered. I used Epsom salt, but didn't check back here to see you say use .5ml instead of 1.5ml soo... hehe, hopefully not sorry! But hey its my first grow, I not expecting it to go great. But with RIU, maybe it can be good! I have also raised the lamps a bit as the plants seem to be a bit hot. We will see how they look in a few hours!

Thank you sir and if the canopy is hot the best way to still keep the lights very close is to have the wind blowing directly on top of the plants instead of blowing on the area. Make sure its not to hard but the plants love wind it makes them strong and it cools them even though the room may be warm the canopy is cool

Hey everyone,

We are at about 3 weeks since the seeds were put in the paper towel. So although things do not seem to be looking great, they do seem to be looking better since nearly drowning, cooking, then starving everyone. Since holding off watering for a few days, then giving them a drink with 1.5ml of big bloom + 1.5 ml of Epsom salt they are looking better, though they still droop. I think there may be a pH issue, but I have no idea. I am either going to water them tomorrow or Tuesday morning. When I do I will check the water pH going in and out and post my results. In the mean time here are the pics:

Pics 4, 5 and 6 are of plant 1b, who's leaves are growing in weird and twisted. Please let me know what you think and if you see any issues!
