Here are some pics of the clones do better examine them. What is the reason for the pale leaves? Is it a deficiency problem?
Hey,

They aren't looking too bad to me. I don't mist mine at all, and yes a drop in Humidity will do them good. I only keep the RH at 95 for the first day or two.

The slight yellowing normally comes hand in hand with the start of rooting, so keep your fingers crossed and they should be rooted in a few days.

If there was something seriously wrong then they would have wilted by about day 4, and they still look pretty perky to me, so it's just a matter of waiting now.

Hey I was just thinking of you a minute ago. Ill switch off the heated propagator maybe the heat from the fluros is enough & Ill ease off the misting too. At what point or day do you begin to ph the water for your clones & how often do you water the root riot cubes because mine feeling dry & light? (PH @ 6.5 for RW & root riot correct?) & when do you remove the propagator permanently?

They look pretty good to me. A little yellowing can be expected usually a sign that some root growth is occurring. :peace:

Thank you, it's nice to know someones thinking of me ;-)

I like to keep my root zone at around 65F so switching the heater off will probably do some good, or maybe set it on a timer, so it is on for 10mins in every hour?

I'm really fussy when it comes to ph amendments and don't adjust ph until they have been potted on. That said I only use root riot, with Rockwool it's more crucial that you adjust the ph, 5.8 is a safe bet, I think 6.5 may be a little too high.

The trick with either medium is not to let it dry out but not to over water, try to find a happy medium. And feed from the top. Once watered they should'nt need another watering for a few days, just check them every day.

I don't lift the lid off until I can see quite a bit of root showing, at which point I pot them on.

Are these going into soil once rooted, or Hydro?

Oh and for root riot the ph should indeed be around 6.5.

5.8 will be too low, so if you want to amend the ph then make 2 seperate feeds up. 5.8 RW - 6.5 RRiot.

Ok Ive unplugged the heated propagator. Once rooted Im going to tranfer them into the "4 pot wilma system" in clay pebbles so from there Itll be a hydro grow & as for the other 2 clones Im going to try to make them mothers...if I can find space.

K I got it, but at what point/day will the clones be strong enough to take in PH adjusted water...as soon as root systems are established?

Well I wait until they are rooted and I am potting them on/putting in the Hydro system. But like I say, I only use Root Riot.

With Rockwool, You should adjust the ph from day one.

hey guys hows it goin? good i see!
not been on for ages... those clones look good, its something i havent ever done, just keep buying seeds. silly i know. they have shot up fast!

just so you know my plants are looking brill now. really bushy and healthy. the loss of fan leaves after that problem ages didnt really do any long term damage. put them into flowering today. need to update my thread really put have been busy and now im full of cold.

iloveit, you know your wilma system...how long can that water the plants for? i may be working away for quite a while during my next grow so need to make arrangments for an automated system. could be away for 2 weeks at a time...

oh and you asked what im growing... its northern lights. my fave smoke, but im not really fussy if it helps me sleep...!

im currently watering daily to keep them happy, theres that much air movement in the setup to keep the temps down they dry out so fast.

Hello again, yep seems like yesterday I was checking up on my seedling. Im enjoying this whole growing experience it adds to the knowledge.
My wilma system is going to be plugged into a digital timer so I can set it to water for as little as a minute at a time or for hours (obviously not necessary just stating the flexibility), But when it comes to hyro many people recommend changing the reservoir tank at least twice a week with fresh nutes so you may want to consider that.
Thanks for the mini update on your grow Ive been plucking off the dead fan leaves & adding epsom salts which has shown improvment to the entire plant. Talk to you soon ILoveit.

A little update on the clones:
Woke this morning to find the clones in root riot wilting, they RR felt dry (but not hard) to the touch so I mixed a little formulex to tap water at the PH of 6.5 & watered the RR cubes until they had absorbed as much as they could although at first the beads of water sat on the surface for a few seconds before seeping through. I did the same with the rockwool cubes as they were dry to the touch also even though those clone were not wilting at all.
Well its been approx 4 hours and this is the environment in the propagator:
Temp @ 25C
Humidity @ 94%
Clones & prop hood misted with plain tap water, but the clones in RR are still wilting, any ideas guys?

Open the vents at the top of the Prop, (try to bring your humidity down to the high 70s).

Stop misting the clones for now, and don't add Formulex until they are rooted.

Will do , should I PH the water I feed to the RW & RR cubes?

Hello every one, I think its time for an update on the clones:

Ive been watering with PHed water during the past week but misting with only plain unPHed tap water (thought Id let you know before I go on).

These little buggers dont seem to be growing in height nor rooting. As I was watering all the clones (& mother plant) I felt a sudden urge to tear up the RW & RR cubes so I can see whats going on in there :-x because there was no sign of any roots. So I did...& guess what I found? In the root riot cube one of the clones still had no roots at all :wall: & in the rockwool cube I found a lump of what looks like a white deformed ball...WTF! (See pics below)

Should I be doing something different in the RR cubes (Tricky)?
And what the hell is that erm thing! In the rockwool cube?

Hmmm

I would have hoped they would be rooted by now. They still look perky so I wouldn't throw them yet.

I wouldn't have added anything to the water for the RR cubes as they are pretreated already. And stop spraying them just water the cubes.

Ok,only plain water in RR, only PHed water in RW, no misting GOT IT. Ive removed the prop hood because Ive noticed that the top leaves are pushing up against it, due to this the humidity is at 32% & temp at 23C but Ill be monitoring it constantly & let you know of the changes.

Woke up today to find the clones in root riot have rooted yepeeeeeeeeeee!
Im going to transfer them in the flowering room but I dont want to flower it if itll only grow twice as much in height, I would like for it to grow at least 1 metre. Should I veg a little first or will it grow to approx 1 metre during flowering cycle (by the way the 4 clones will be in a "4 pot atami wilma system" in clay pebbles)?

Well done

If you want the clones to finish at 1m tall then your probably looking at 3-4 weeks veg (rough estimate ;-))

I haven't used a drip system before so the rest of your grow will be a learning experience for me too.

Oh and if you are planning to use all four pots, then get another 2 clones done asap, that way you will be able to feed all four clones the same nutes, without burning the two youngest. (hope that makes sense)

Sorry you lost me :?

Do you mean to say "Get another 2 clones ready" so that all 4 pots are in use & in motion? If so then its ok because I had 6 clones to start off with & 2 I got rid of (which were in RW) & these clones which have shown roots are all in RR.

Another thing: should I transfer them to the clay pebbled filled pots right away or let them root a little more?
