I've had a few and known many more and in my experience they're all pretty high energy, lethargic behavior is unusual, especially at 4 years. Do you actually exercise him when you go out or just put him outside in the yard? If you don’t go for long walks in all kinds of weather with him leashed, under control and paying attention, you may want to start. I'd also lay off any treats, bones and stuff and just dry food and water until he gets better or you go to the vet. Be sure of the quality of any commercial rawhide or bones, not all are created equal. vet tomorrow if he's not better

I sorta rescued him from craigs list. He was on his way to get put down or someone had to take him. Then when i got there the guy wanted fifty bucks for him and he was covered in fleas and mange. And he was deathly skinny. Hes never been a high energy dog. Hes a good dog, never fights with other dogs, always gets along. Most people drown these dobys. Hes a blue. They have no hair besides their undercoats after one yr old. He likes playing with other dogs, he just hates being in sun or rain, or cold, or wind. i think @Diabolical666 is right. I think i need to get him a friend to play with.

So he's been to the vet for distemper parvo shots since you've had him?

Dobermans have a pretty short life he might be getting old

god bless you for the rescue and taking that poor guy into your heart and home, i wish more people would do that. i've been involved in rescues for a long time and they are usually the sweetest dogs.

Make it easier and more people would.... A cat lady committee won't decide if I'm responsible enough for a dog that somebody else has thrown away
