Skybike has been keeping me picture posted on the progress. It would be interesting to see a journal out of it. I had enough mylar for a reflector as well as the big piece you can sorta see taped onto the side in picture #2. Glad to have another spectator. I figure the more people I can bring in the more motivated I will be to be a diligent poster. Also great to have multiple minds tossing input. Please feel free to be a very critical. I can take it, and more so welcome it.

I ended up finding 10 packs of regular black garbage bags at my local dollar store that worked perfectly. $1.14, and some careful work later my box was completely covered in duct tape and garbage bags. The only light that leaves the box is a tiny bit at the zippers and at the hole where the screen is cut out for the fan. I will figure out a way to change that when it comes time to switch to 12/12 outside of that box. For now nothing is going on outside that little box. Thanks for the props on the reflector. I wasn't really sure about the design but I like the final product. It does an alright job and still allowd for individual height adjustment of the lamps. I wish I could find more wattage for the box but my local stores don't carry anything stronger than a 26W in 6500K. There were some 42W 2700K and I think I may buy one or 2 of those. I figure more wattage and more lumens in a CFL grow is never a bad thing.

Aha i see, very smart of you.
And yeah, both of those lights are perfect for what you need, the watt and kelvin is perfect, spectrums are perfect.
Your good to go. The more the merrier i always say ^_^

I have several leaves that are beginning to show signs of what I think may be a potassium deficiency. The problem is only showing up on the bottom set of leaves on maybe 4 of the plants. I had been using a fairly low concentration of nutrients with every watering. The last time I watered I decided to give them just water which is why I think they are showing deficiency signs. The pots are still too wet to water again to feed them the nutes. Anyone agree that it is a potassium deficiency or do I perhaps have another problem on my hands?

In the nute department, i am no help at all.
=\

Ill read up and see what i can come up with man.
I also posted my issue on the plant help portion of RIU. I was directed to this site: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=11688 Probably one of the most detailed and well laid out plant guides I've ever come across. It's worth a read AcidBurn I learned quite a bit of useful information. Based on my reading I am thinking now that it may actually be phosphorus deficient and perhaps also a little low on manganese. Will definitely attempt to correct next watering. I think I will go back to my low concentration feed every watering. They were looking so healthy before and that is really one of the only changes I've made recently.

It has been approximately 35 days since my first seedlings broke through the soil. Seems like 48 hour intervals are going to become a regular thing here with this journal. I can't help myself. I just love to snap photos of them. I have recently be raising my lights up a little bit to promote some vertical growth. My reasoning behind this comes from an LST post I had read recently. Without a little bit of space between the nodes LST can be difficult. Also I figured if I could get them just a tad bit taller I could begin some minor LST. They have responded exactly as I had imagined to the light move. I raised them one more time today another 2 inches or so. After this raise I will be slowly selecting candidates for LST. Anyone have any input as to why I might be seeing some of the discolourations that I am?

It still seems a little too soon to tell if my remedies will fix the problem completely. I am back on the nutes as it seems clear that they were enjoying them and got angry when I tried to give them a plain water feed. I will update when there has been enough change to know, or if something tragic happens and I need emergency assistance.

wow those just look beautiful, keep it up.

as for the discoloration, i would say its a slight [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Magnesium dificiency which can be solved with any fertilizer containing Magnesium.

But then again i just start my first grow, and have no idea myself, but this link might be useful to you.

It has a list of common problems and there causes.

I have another large group of photos for everyone watching. I also have a question I'd like to throw at all of you. I want to begin LST but my plants all have very short outward stems and I dont know how to go about securing ties to them. I think I would greatly benefit from LST right now but need to get this issue solved. I tried raising the lights to promote a little stretch but all that seems to have done is stretch them vertically while remaining just as dense. Any suggestions on how I could begin LST?

Got some beautiful growth there bud, I'm quite jealous. They have such a nice color and for the most part I don't really see any yellowing leaves? Got that all straightened out have you? Nice work man, hope you figure out something about the LST.
