Being a student means I have no money, so i've done the best i could with the funds available to create my first, cheap/basic set up which hopefully be successful. Successful being to germinate and grow and produce some weed :)

DSC01678.jpg

1x125w CFL
Fan
Bio Biz Bloom
Perlite and Compost 40/60
Going to raise the plants accordingly to ensure there is gap of 3inch so from the CFL

Improvements to be made:

Ordered an computer exhaust fan, going to attach to this when i get around to it https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/101248-best-diy-ez-walmart-carbon.html
Going to use an old phone charger to power this fan, and will do the same with an intake fan if it works.
Adding 2x20w CFLs to the side to help light get the base of the plants.

Questions:
I've got two pots, 15cm diameter, which is 6inchs, can i use them as starter pots?

and on a further thought, how come people dont just start with big pots, to avoid transplanting? there must be a reason that i don't know.

Any comments, help, ideas, constructive criticism are welcome :)

Haha sweet, this is definitely a better set up than what I had for my very first grow. Please update with pictures! I want to see how it turns out.

Okay, well the reason why people do not start in a huge pot is because you do not want to drown the plant by overwatering. Also if you are trying to to over water your plant, then you tend to under water it, which is no good either. Also, what are you going to use for bloom? the cfl?
