spores are legal for most of the US, you could not use perlite..perlite only for humidification purposes...pressure cooker, ive heard of people getting around it but its not a step I would skip

you can order spores legally, to the best of my knowledge you can grow psilocybin mushrooms legally, BUT it is illegal to harvest them.

I've heard of people microwaving their medium to sterilize it.
dose it have to be vermiculite and if a shroom was infested wiht a bacteria or mold or fugus would it kill you? i heard a story that someone at a shroom that was not sterilized when growing and had a bacteria on it that killed the person think a bacteria or mold would do that?

Spores are illegal in georgia, california, and Idaho. Most places will still ship them though. I order from: http://www.ralphstersspores.com/

If you are using the pf tek you need to use vermiculite.
And a pressure cooker is a real good thing to have, you need it if doing grains. I've heard you can get by sterilizing the pf tek jars in boiling water but I'm not sure how long.

most mushrooms are only illegal while dry, if they aren't dried then depending on where you live, it's legal.
as for the pressure cooker, no, you do not need one. although they are the best way to get the most sterile mushrooms.

The point of pressure cooking your jars , is because the jar and contents of it probably holds MOLD spores that will eventually contaminate it, so you must first kill them before introducing spores! You are not boiling it in water! The point is to let the STEAM sterlize everything for you! What you can do is just get a large pan, throw in some water ( just about enough so that the water is about up to 1/4 of the jars length ), line the bottom of the pan with some rocks ( you dont want your jars touching the bottom of the pan .. innovate ) place your jars in there , throw the lid on and turn the fire on for 45 minutes to 1 hour. The steam will sterlize your jars, just open the lid to let a little steam out every 15 so you dont get an explosion! It works, don't try to debate.

taken from a very skilled mushroom grower.
