More pistoles??????

I have been growing ten autos of different varieties. They are all 12 weeks old. I k ow some of these were “due” for harvest at 8-9 weeks per packaging but these seem to want to put on more flower. Thoughts???

I have grown three rounds of Photos with very good “noob” success but I am a little baffled by these guys. Been watching trichomes and none have really big heads or have started to go amber.

Just not sure what my move should be. I totally understand that at 12 weeks (now) they SHOULD be due for harvest but none of the fans are yellowing and many still seem to want to bulk up.

Thanks Man. I understand that you should watch the fans on the Autos for your que to cut but I’ve been watching both the leaves and trichs and nether are really screaming “cut me”. I’m glad to hear your confirmation. Seems I really have a couple of weeks to go despite being at 12 weeks already. Thanks again!

Is it typical for them to shoot pistoles, let them go orange and then shoot more pistoles like they are going to flower more?

Yes. They are still actively flowering

just keep doing what you are doing... if they don't look ready then they aren't. The breeders time frame is just an estimate... I have found most autos are done in roughly 10 weeks, but some will go longer. Some may finish sooner... but if they don't look ready, just let them keep going.

I appreciate y’all. Truly. So, an update is in order. These are all autoflowers that we are speaking of. They were popped January 3. They are now officially 13 weeks old. Eight of the 10 plants continue to show fresh pistoles while, at the same time, several of the plants leaves are starting to fade. The trichomes or clear to cloudy. None of the plants have 100% cloudy trichomes. The heads look mature but not for like they are ready to pop. I truly don’t know whether I should go ahead and chop now and call it good or allow them another week or two. I have not started to feed a ripening solution (Im in coco) due to the fact that I want to continue the support of bulking if indeed that is what they are still doing. I would again like to ask for suggestions from experienced autoflower growers.

Another question I will ask… My flowers don’t stink. The last grow, which were photoperiods, had very little smell. They smoked amazing and I had many compliments from several different friends but all agreed that they did not have much nose on them. I refined my feeding program to include kelp, molasses and castings. I am following the General hydroponics flora series grow program. My nutrient solutions run about 800 with a pH between 5.6–6.0. I operate 4x8 tents that each have four 260w QB V2 RSpec’s. I am doing everything I know to boost the scent but I’m just not getting the job done. I want my house to smell embarrassingly bad but it just smells like my wife’s toasted biscotti candle. Please help me!

If the buds look swollen and ripe, then the trichomes are the deciding factor. If you are still heavily on the clear side, and don't have a significant amount of amber showing on the buds then I wouldn't be thinking about harvesting yet. Based on the pictures above, and your comments, I would believe they probably have about 10-14 days left of ripening.

Autos can be tough to judge sometimes... @Thundercat knows his growing...do well to listen to him.

I haven't grown many autos, but the farm I work on is about to drop a whole batch for a spring run so I'm gonna learn a lot more. However from everything I've seen in person and online autos don't mature that much differently then photos. They still take time to mature, and swell and ripen.

Any other thoughts on how to increase the fragrance of my flowers??

Ensure your temps and humidity are on point. Too high temps combined with too low of humidity could cause evap of certain terpinoids, which will definitely affect taste/smell.

A huge part of smell and flavor are genetic. Getting your environment correct like Freddie said is important to reach your full potential. Many people water with Epsom salts the last few weeks to increase the sulpher levels. Which is supposed to increase terpenoids.

I'm hearing/reading the same...been trying it out this last run some...going to try a little more routinely this next run.

Wait until it’s screaming cut me and you will know it’s time. I agree with these guys it doesn’t look ready but it looks close.

If I’m feeding with nutrient solution into coco, what would be a good method to add Epsom salts without burning? I can convert to a flush/ripening phase whenever if it should be just a straight Epsom solution. And, if that is how it should be done, should I also add CalMag?

Okay... this seems crazy. Most of my plants are continuing to show some measure of flowering. I have only been feeding them water with liquid kelp and molasses. Trichs are all cloudy, and have been for a while, but none amber. I would really like to harvest these as I have plants in my nursery tent eager to take their place. Could/should I cut them now? Do I really need to wait? I am at day 98 on these AUTOS! That is week 14!!!! What would be YOUR move???

They might be about done. I’ve read that autos will spit out some late stigma growth. Your plant looks like it’s plumped up well, and if the trichomes are mostly cloudy on the actual buds then you should be in the window.

Epsom salt is Mg and S (sulfur).

For a foliar spray I use up to a full TBLS per gal, and for a soil drench up to 2 TBLS per gal. It's also not a bad idea to add some silica to the foliar spray to act as a surfactant.
