I harvested my plants a few days ago and I've been putting the big buds on the scale each day to monitor how fast they dry. Is it a reliable way to do so? I read the buds will lose between 50% and 75% of their weight so im assuming that when i get into these range i begin curing and put them in mason jars. Any ideas?

no u dont won't ur bud dry all the way before u cure.u want the bud dry to the feel.
then put them in the jars.every 4 to 6 hrs pop the tops of the jars for 5 to 10 mins.when the bud is at 75%shh give or take,or then stems SNAP.everything i told u comes from my book.u should get one it really helps

well my main question here is, is the weight of the buds tells me the % of humidity in them? Does losing 35% of their weight means they got 65% humidity in them?

ur not weighting humidity,ur checking the mosture like i said u dont want the buds all the way dry when u go to cure.if u do then don't bother trying to cure its a waste of time.
