The whole "legitimate rape" concept hurts my head. Are the sentencing guidelines different for a conviction for Legitimate Rape? cn
well he have legitimate rape and then you have rape...
Legitimate rape is when you at least ask first then just take when she says no
Rape is just taking without even giving her a chance to say yes or no.:dunce:

See if you dont give her a chance to say no

Well I can see the congressmans point
I have read some Ayn Rand

And it's true
All women have a rape fantasy
SO
Real women cant be raped
only the man hating lesbians can
So if a woman feels she is raped
Then she must be a lesbian
Which means she had it coming

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins fired back at Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, a leading moderate voice in the GOP who called Akin's remarks "outrageous" and encouraged him to drop his challenge to Democrat Claire McCaskill.
"He should be careful because based on some of his statements there may be some call for him to get out of his race," Perkins said of Brown. "He has been off the reservation on a number of Republican issues, conservative issues I should say. His support among conservatives is very shallow."

You are going to see the rightist folk here doing everything they can to divert attention from this man who believes that there are degrees to rape and that some magical feminine system bolts down the portals if it is really really rape.

Few here are getting the point though. This man's views are now held by the majority of right leadership - Ryan holds them as well. The problem is not with what Akin said, the problem is with that he said near an open mic. and that isn't the half of it. The right continues down a path that ever more sharply diverts from scientific reality. They believe man rode dinosours, they believe the earth was created 6,000 years ago. They believe that scientists regularly lie, they believe that global warming is a hoax and that Hubert's peak is a figment of Hubert's imagination. In short, they have a penchant for believing in magic, witchcraft and fairytale. Is it any wonder that they believe something that tends to fit with their morality? A naturaly reasonable conclusion that women can't get preggers unless they honestly enjoyed the experience. Hence, not only are women far less honorable, but they deserve that fetus inside of them and they deserve to be held accountable by the state.

Now if a man wants to avoid a rape charge just get the chick pregnant and that will be proof that she enjoyed it and that's not a raping per Akins.

It also seems that Paul Ryan believes that women can be only forcibly raped...no force no rape...so I guess now rapist can drug the shit out of a victim to have them fightless; then gently remove her clothes, gently put his penis in her vagina...as long as its no force involved you all good.

Canndo,

Way to use this as a spring board.

"If you don't believe in global warming, you support legitimate rape, because he also believes global warming is fake."

This is an association fallacy. It's a guilt trip. Global warming is not a truth, and those who don't believe aren't conspiracy theorists. Global warming alarmists are the ones with the conspiracy theory, that somehow just because climate changes, it's bad, so we must stop it. The easiest solution is humans did it, because then it can be stopped. If it's not us, then it'll be harder to stop to impossible. It's the same false hope that dying is scary, therefore god will let us live in paradise when we die forever. Those people are so scared of dying, they attack atheists making them the boogieman. "Gays mock god, are atheists, etc, therefore their lifestyle is an abomination!" It then leads to all immorality is a affront towards god. God is here to protect us, therefore he wouldn't allow bad things to happen to the truly faithful. Those who legitimately get raped wouldn't have a bastard child. So it must mean it wasn't rape and both the "rapist" and "victim" were consentual sinning as a way to rationalize their belief system.

You're just as much scum as this senator and evangelicals against gays. What makes you scum is you use global warming as a red herring on an issue almost everyone agrees with (pregnancy from rape isn't fake rape), just to promote your agenda.

Hey, why not bring up Hitler was an animal lover and had vegetarian tendencies in order to justify why you eat meat. Since Hitler was evil, so are animal rights activists and vegetarians/vegans.

Scum?

Global warming is not a truth, but scientific evidence for it is.
I am not a global warming alarmist, but one who sees and comprehends the evidence laid before me and is urging that something corrective be done.
The current drought, the longest and most devistating, is case in point. As things get worse, as scientific predictions come true one after the other, the naysayers attempt to pin the causes on anything but their own actions. Were I to have come out and said global warming was happening without the benefit of decades of confirming evidence you would have a point but that isn't the way it happens here.

Sure, it is easier if we mainatin that humans caused it, therefore humans can fix it but that has nothing to do with hope nor was the revelation arrived at as you state, in the reverse. In other words we did not say "global warming must be man made because that is the only way it must be in order that we can reverse it".

My statement is intended to show that the right does not adhere to any science or fact that goes astray from their already arrived at perceptions of the universe. I have even read some rightist thesus that relativity is false. This goes along with my contention that the right is divorced from science when that science somehow is judged to be contrary to their overall understanding of their world, even if, or especially if, they have no concept of the principles involved i.e. one "opinion" is no more valid or valuable than another, regardless of who's opinion it is.

This is not my agenda Canna, it is an observation of the behavior of the far right, the far right that has nearly completely overridden the Republican party. I note that you don't address the 6,000 year old earth or the other examples I gave. The right will go so far as to state, contrary to scientific evidence, that mercury or lead is not as bad for people as science has indicated, why? not because of any true scientific findings, but because it is in their best financial or ideological interest to believe it. Your Hitler example is not relevent here.

So if someone grabbed a women forced his penis inside her, if she gets pregnant then it is not a legitimate rape because a women's body can stop from getting pregnant if she is really raped... are we to assume that she really wanted it ?

ONLY IN RIGHT WING WORLD

and in left wing world, Roman Polanski's sexual exploits with a 13 year old girl who has been plied wiith drugs and booze recieves the following comments

Whoopi Goldberg: "I know it wasn't rape-rape. It was something else but I don't believe it was rape-rape."

Harvey Weinstein: writing on how the arrest of Roman Polanski was "a shocking way to treat such a man, especially one who had suffered through the Holocaust and the murder of his wife, Sharon Tate, by the Manson family." afterr all that he still wasnt done with blaming the system and shaming the victim, he still felt the need to finish himself off in her hair with this little gem:
"I will be organising the effort myself by emailing everybody I know to sign the petition. I'm not too shy to go and talk to the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and to ask him once and for all to look at this."

Anne Applebaum: he already paid dearly for his crime "in many, many ways: In notoriety, in lawyers' fees, in professional stigma. He could not return to Los Angeles to receive his recent Oscar. He cannot visit Hollywood to direct or cast a film."

Patrick Goldstein: "I think Polanski has already paid a horrible, soul-wrenching price for the infamy surrounding his actions. The real tragedy is that he will always, till his death, be snubbed and stalked and confronted by people who think the price he has already paid isn't enough."

French Minister of Culture
Frederic Mitterrand: announced that he "strongly regrets that a new ordeal is being inflicted on someone who has already experienced so many of them."

Joan Shore (from huffington post): "The 13-year old model 'seduced' by Polanski had been thrust onto him by her mother, who wanted her in the movies. The girl was just a few weeks short of her 14th birthday, which was the age of consent in California. (It's probably 13 by now!) Polanski was demonized by the press, convicted, and managed to flee, fearing a heavy sentence. I met Polanski shortly after he fled America and was filming Tess in Normandy. I was working in the CBS News bureau in Paris, and I accompanied Mike Wallace for a Sixty Minutes interview with Polanski on the set. Mike thought he would be meeting the devil incarnate, but was utterly charmed by Roman's sobriety and intelligence."

I am not prepared to use dominionists as examples yet because I still don't know as much about this genuinely frightening sect as I must in order to use them. What has me amazed is how pervasive they are in our current society and especially in our leadership.

Doc, as is often the case, you have a point. but nowhere in your post is there an indicator that the statements stray from reality, that a rape victim cannot get pregnant and that is the crux of my arguments.

I will be interested to hear what you find out when you do turn your attention on them. There is an aggressive Evangelical movement in this country that spans several denominations, and the amount of fundamentalist vigor that they possess amazes me. When members of such congregations become politically active, a strong centrifugal tendency to politicize their beliefs emerges. And you end up with hallowed aberrations like Creation Science escaping dominionist theme parks and invading state school boards. cn

Canndo,

Yes, it's scummy. Global warming is a red herring. It has nothing to do with the topic. The far far right evangelical aren't the only ones who believe man made global warming is a scam to get green taxes. I'm an environmentalist, animal rightist and atheist who has serious doubts and I'm very insulted you group me with this scum senator.

Hitler is very germane to your post. You hitlerize this guy then sound off on other views you're against, then say that guy believes those as a method of persuasion. That's a very scummy thing to do.

Hitler and the senator breathed, so stop breathing!

no thats the crux of akin's argument, and he is an idiot.

too many people on the right think a zygote is more important than the host organism, and too many people on the left think ANY crime is justified if you are properly progressive, and liberals like what you do and say. progressive jingoists even say shit on camera that makes me cringe (watch Michael Moore Hates America for some excellent examples) like:

"the money comes from obama's stash"
"i dont care if it is all untrue, it needs to be out there"
"al gore's movie may have been all wrong but that doesnt mean it's not right"
"it was just about sex"
"now i wont have to worry about payin my rent or puttin gas in my car..."
"The US lost the tet offensive and are now doomed in vietnam"
"it really was a baby milk factory,, really,, no honest it was..."
"we president now"
"its a war for oil"
"no WMDs in iraq"
"he never said wipe israel off the map... well not exactly..."
"obamacare will reduce the deficit and the debt"
"it's healthcare reform, no really, its not about insurance companies and policies, it's about healthcare..."
"there is no individual mandate"
"well ok there is an individual mandate but it wont cost you anything"
"well ok, but the fees are really taxes, but you wont go to jail for not paying it"
"no no, really you cant go to jail for refusing to pay the obamacare tax/fee/penalty"
"nobody ever went to jail for refusing to pay taxes, EVER!"
"prove to me anybody ever went to jail for refusing to pay taxes, that has to be the exact charge they were convicted of, exactly those words..."

if i have to defend every buffleheaded statement any politician ever utters if he has an R behind his name then you have to justify al gore's deliberate lies and exaggerations in his stupid movie, every lie and half-truth michael moore ever farted out, diane feinstein's inability to load a rifle that was designed to be operated by chinese peasants who had never seen a gun before (despite her status as a federal marshal. no, really check it out) ted kennedy's brilliant plan to put a unique serial number on every bullet sold (ha ha ha ha),, barney frank's insistence that fannie and freddie are doing great, obama's assertion that the private sector is doing "just fine", obama's claim to not be a socialist despite his "spread the wealth around" comment when he thought the cameras were off, and millions more.

akin's absurd claim is retarded, but that doesnt mean he is evil, stupid, or that romney cant be president because they are both republicans, any more than obama has to step down because Malik "Every Iota of a Cracker I Hate" Shabazz cant shut his flapping meathole.

however technically you are correct, rape is actually MORE likely to result in pregnancy than consensual sex with a willing partner (except buttsex of course) Desmond Morris had a whole section on that in "The Human Animal" or his poorly titled follow up "SEX with Desmond Morris" (That title is probably why it is the least rented Adult DVD in America 12 years running) it's got something to do with the Rape Nut being stickier than the Drunk and Horny Nut, or the Married for 10 Years Nut.
