Miracle Grow vs. Foxfarm Ocean Forest side by side comparison

I asked the gal at the hydro store today if FFOF has changed it's mix or if Rick had changed the Cornicopia because for the last several months I have been getting more yellowing and earlier than usual with most of my plants. Upping the Grow nute a little in veg to see if that helps.
What did she say?

Maybe it's the myco? didn't you say you recently started using them? they seem to make my girls suck up and metabolize nutes a lot faster.

I noticed my Sunshine 4 was always too hot for clones in the past, now same as you stated they need ferts sooner.

Yes it did start around the same time as I started using the myco good catch man, I had wondered that too. Gal at the store said to try increasing the amount of grow during veg.

Gotta go get cleaned up and heading out to my mom's for my sons birthday. Later

When was I ever comparing organic nutes to MG? You missed something along the way, I'm not doing this for you I'm doing it as an experiment for myself just happen to be documenting it for shits and giggles.
Using the Fox farm soil I thought you were going organic and were being consistent by using organic nutes as well; and that you were comparing it to the synthetic MG. I guess I don't understand the comparison. If you were comparing the soils to each other to see how they would affect the final outcome then it would make sense to keep all the other factors exactly the same. Different soils and different nutrients I don't understand how you would determine what made the difference. Was it the soil or was it the nutrients?
I'm well aware you weren't doing this for me, all I was saying is that if you add more nutrients to MG and to the Cornucopia then you are changing the nutrient ratios; so then you aren't really comparing MG or the Cornucopia to anything; you are comparing altered MG to altered Cornucopia and then again I don't understand the point of the test. You wouldn't be able to answer the question, is it worth it to spend more money on expensive nutrients or could you get by with cheap nutrients and soil?Which I thought was the point of the test. Once you've blindly altered the nutrient ratios you wouldn't know if you did harm or good with those alterations? So if the grow started going bad where would you go to correct it since you really don't know how much you've altered it? I've seen so many grow reports where people start adding stuff and then spend the rest of the grow chasing problems.
I guess I'm taking this a little more scientific but it sounds like you are doing it just for fun. My bad.

Its simple. He's doing this for him. To see if MG can out grow HIS usual stuff. your over thinking. this is not to prove to us, but to him.

I hope it works. Im looking into working with cheaper alternatives myself. So far Im doing alright with a Black Kow base mixture, Not great but Im dong ok. Just started another small mix of new stuff to see if thats any better

my last batch of super soil blew the last time I grew with FFOF away. Then again last batch of FFOF wasn't airpots either.

I am just going to work on recycling soil and sticking with my expensive roots, because the soil texture/quality is great. Recycling super soil is going to be way cheaper than buying any new soil -- the stuff that goes into super soil is not generally that expensive (other than the soil), especially in bulk. Also solves the problem of what to do with all the byproducts of each harvest.

yeah im going smart pots or air pots next time i spent a fortune on buckets.. ill save them for outdoor after i camo them up.. you know you can also do this by the most simple of mixes... I use this metod works as good as dwc i swear on anything... results to back it.. 1 pt perlite 1pt vermiculite 1pt sphungam moss (i think this is right or really close to lol). if you want to reuse just dont add the extra bone meal domalite blood meal guano or worm castings.. i add these when available when they are not it not a big deal... my main MG make is organic blood meal and bone meal 1 bag of each will last you a lifetime... awesome for outside plants u cant feed

just for future reference.. but if your really going cost effective its dwc which i dont prefer cause im lazy and its not as forgiving.. long run i like my method... also less is more in alot of cases bud your adding alot more variables to give you honest results to your ususal grow

Hey seanel what's up. I was picking their brain today over at the grow store about what to add to the soil I'm going to recycle. The flower beds can't hold any more and I'm storing the rest in the barn but it's starting to add up lol. I'm going to look elsewhere for the amendments to get them cheaper than at the grow store. I'll start growing plants in my own recycled soil very soon and we can watch them grow too with all the rest.

I'm not worried about at all about the additions so far to the MG soil, I wouldn't have put it in if I wasn't sure it would help.
Yup mj don't like a lot of air in their roots they like to sit in that heavy soggy soil with wet feet. And kelp juice?! Who in their right mind would give a pot plant kelp lol. I don't care what I have to do to the soil to coax every gram that I can out of these plants. Even wholsale and in bulk it still comes out to 10 bucks/g so you can see that any weight loss at all would add up quick and not be outweighed by saving money cutting corners.

This is an ongoing experiment and you may even see coco or something else in the the next batch of MG soil and maybe sometime there will a batch with unadultrated MG but I can tell you by the end of the year I'll have whatever I am using dialed in tight

I know that's right!

A good bud of mine works at the FF soil plant in north cali and he said that FF is going out to large outdoor farmers and buying back used soil and just adding a few amendments and also they are not heat treating the soil.... 3 partners of mine have reported, Mites, fungus, and powder mildew in the past 2 months after buying new bags of FF, and these guys have NEVER had these kinds of issues in the past and are now losing thousands thanks to FF and their shit soil, I really hope they stop re buying soil soon cause this is bull shit

I will put my 2 cents in on this grow,
MG is essentially nitrates and phosphates, both are SUPER fucking powerful nutes and when used correctly are UnBEATABLE, thats not a challenge its a fact, Ammonium nitrate (the main ingredient in MG) is the single most powerful Nitrogen supplement in use today, and potassium Phosphate is along the same lines of potency. Now that being said useing MG exclusively causes your plants to only want nitrates and phosphates and your plants will die without them, its like heroin for plants.

Now MG clearly states what it has in it....but most nute company's dont, and they use dummy words to cover up their use of nitrates and phosphates so dont buy into the price hype, every single nute company on the market has at minimum a 250% price markup at the shelf, some companys (advanced is one) have a 500% markup.

I am not advocating the use of MG because of the binding agents they use can and are toxic, but you can save your self 1000s of dollars by just buying ammonium phosphate, potassium phosphate and blood meal teas and your plants will grow like a motherfucker if you get your mix perfect.
