It's a nice screen dude... But I'm thinking that will be a *bitch* to navigate come harvest. My first ever trial grow I did, I scrogged with a permanent wired screen, and I spent hours hacking away at my girl to free her from it. I seriously think a thick nylon thread, something like the ones they use for garden trimmers, or thin cabling, the likes of my canibalised ethernet cables, is the way to go. I just snip it, gently pull it, and I'm left with my entire plant without any screen at all.

I still don't think I can scrog in a pc box. I'll have a further ponder on it, I'll put it alongside my 'hempy in a pc' thoughts, and see if I can't come up with something ingenious to tie them both in.

So, Day 29. Not a lot happening, it's all just waiting now I guess. She's certainly nice and sticky now. Showing lots of nice budsites. I've trimmed a few of the bigger leaves off around the top end of the plant, to try and help fill some gaps, the leaves were covering a couple popcorn buds, so I'm hoping they might grow into something a bit tastier.

Just spent the morning trawling through the LED forum looking for ways to add some extra light to this box. I've found some real treats lurking around, so thought I'd share them with you fine people.

First I found this, a genius little tutorial on how to rig up and solder a basic LED setup from some cheap LED chips.

I was just about convinced, and on the verge of hitting the buy button on all the bits... But then I happened across this little beauty:

He's using 'LED Strips' - these things are 5 meters long, with a shitload of leds in them, there's no faffing around with heatsinks and heat conductive paste like the post above. Not only this, but if you check them on ebay they are DIRT cheap! Okay, maybe they're not the idea lights for the spectrums we need, maybe they're not as powerful as could be, but... I'm thinking anyone who wants to supplement their micro grow with some extra light for cheap money, and little hassle... Surely this has to be the way to go.

How can ya go wrong? If I didn't have chuffing xmas sat on the doorstep, I'd have a set of these on their way towards me this morning.

Hey! First of all, with about 21-23 bud sites, you're gonna have a happy New Year's!!

Also, you might have gotten me out of trouble also with these led strips, so much easier to handle and not even hot at all!! And about 1000 Lumens each! Great, I think I'm gonna go with these too!

Have a look at the 5630 lights. It seems they're bigger and brighter... I just can't find a seller who's selling the whole kit (driver, adaptor, lights & remote).

Lots more heat too, I guess. Not sure if that'd be too much for a pc case.
 
I checked them out.. only on ebay com, from china I found them with adaptor, etc..
Dunno bout the heat, I mean it's a led strip, how hot could it get? :dunce:
 
hi mewk! i just wanna let you know i am subscribed to your grow. I'm from the Philippines and typhoon Haiyan literally thrashed my last grow. But you give me hope man. Keep inspiring growers like me.

That's crappy news man! Hope you're okay and all the family are safe. I've got friends over in the Philippines, it just missed them, but I know it hit bad where a lot of their family live.

Hope's a beautiful thing to be able to give, thanks for the kind words. I'm flattered. I'm no expert tho, it just proves what you can do on a zero budget with three cheap cfls!

Nice work mewk, my box was a labor of love. The features and modularity I wanted would have cost mad dough and I'm a cheapskate, lol. So I built it myself for about $300.
 
50 days, Kirk.

The original idea was 50 days veg / 50 days flower. But I think she's gonna need longer than that in flower.
 
yea I was just reading somewhere that the longer veg times push you into a longer flower. I'm gonna know for sure as I've got one at 31 days veg now and the other two are 13 days. vegging for 2 more weeks so I'm looking at 45 and 27 days respectively. Oh, yeah that is with hoping for all girls, too.
 
@Spanky - I've not heard that before, but I'll be interested to see your results man. Maybe I'll do a much shorter veg for the next grow and see how that works out then.

Everything seems pretty good n happy in the box, not a lot new to report, so just a bunch of new pics for you all. :)
