i am finished with doctors!!! i am not in the best of health(i am 60 years old) but i am more concerned about my hubby right now!!! ok...brief history he has-mar frans disease--barretts disease-has had open heart surgery-toe operated on(bone fused together)arthertis-had car fall on him-broken back and neck! couple sugeries there. and there is more but...ok he recently had prostate cancer-he had seed implant-radioactive seeds implanted in prostate. last doctor visit to doc that did surgery and has been tending my husband for a little while now. last visit-he was supposed to do ultra-sound--to see if cancer is gone or spread etc.--he said we'll do it next time when i see you in three weeks. three week visis-mondaymarch 11--doctor is running late--waited a long time-got called in waited long time-finally he is here and he rushes and doesn't have the time to do ultra sound again-we'll do it next visit-six months--(MY GOD!!!!!THE MAN HAS HAD CANCER COULD YOU PLEASE DO YOUR JOB!!!)then we have our primary care physician can't come up with anything sends you to specialist this or that. prescribe some shit persciption. anyways yesterday was the straw that has broken our backs---he was having scopes in both e3nds-we were scheduled first because we had so far to drive and that is what my hubby wanted...we are first to arrive. gotta wait...someone else came in after us-got called in before us!!!! he had same rocedure as hubby! weird there! anyways every single person we came into contact yesterday was very rude and in bad moods. and they took it out on us. no more!!! they can kiss my ass. they found nothing out of ordinary hemroids and the barretts and diveruculose(?) and she couldn't get the scope thru the colon because of twists and turns and she was bitching about it. wtf????????????? my doctor gave me "mild"pain killer for my hurting leg! they seem to help but he took that as the ssue is solved. no it is not. i will not go to doctors anymore----my caregiver is my doc now!!! anyone else get annoyed with doctors?

I've spent the last few decades of my life split working in the bowels of government followed by healthcare. From the halls of congress to the emergency room, these "not for profit" bureaucracies left me shell shocked and the corruption hopeless

speech isnt free at the indian doctors office they said. in the midst of the meningitis thing, all he could do was tell me get back shots or nothing further. folks in mi were gettin sick by the minute. then he tells me how he sends millions of dollars a year back to "home", and it supports the whole neighborhood, while forgetting to send for my pics from the other doc for the third time. i almost killed him, definitely threatened him with it. it was a big deal,lol.

as far as i could tell, he was tryin to give me the same deal.

I had traveled the world for many years prior to my venture into healthcare. Without that experience, dealing daily with doctors from such differing cultures would have been maddening Having learned to assimilate in each culture personally prior was the only way one could truly understand the conflict I saw on an hourly basis

Yah, still hoping that "Duke" involvement w Marquette Hospital begins to pay off with better drs and quality care.. figured it'd take 5, or so, yrs before any nu streamlining there wld be tangible.

I have only meet a few Doctors in my life span them seemed genuine in the mission to help and heal those who are sick . Sad to say this is a profession that many with intelligence seek after , but 9 out of 10 seem to lack the common sense needed to become a good doctor in the first place ..

More than anything the failure with western medicine is that it works backwards and lacks treatment of the mind and soul unless you got money to pay the head drs for there game time lol ...

I agree with Abe , time to get that old hippy on an oil regimen and some fine medibles .. I know you can bake momma and he can eat , all is well and the time is now !

Juicing Cannabis is another aspect of daily medication to think about too , with all the recent studies showing its benefits it would be wise to attempt to make this part of a healing and prevention regimen as well .. I think both fresh and processed medicine could really help you both .

I know that if I hit 60 I'll be eating raw leaves along with juicing on top of taking oil and smoking herb , but that's only if I make it .. About 20 more years to go !

A pair of scientists at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco has found that a compound derived from marijuana could stop metastasis in many kinds of aggressive cancer, potentially altering the fatality of the disease forever.
"It took us about 20 years of research to figure this out, but we are very excited," said Pierre Desprez, one of the scientists behind the discovery, to The Huffington Post. "We want to get started with trials as soon as possible."
The Daily Beast first reported on the finding, which has already undergone both laboratory and animal testing, and is awaiting permission for clinical trials in humans.
Desprez, a molecular biologist, spent decades studying ID-1, the gene that causes cancer to spread. Meanwhile, fellow researcher Sean McAllister was studying the effects of Cannabidiol, or CBD, a non-toxic, non-psychoactive chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. Finally, the pair collaborated, combining CBD and cells containing high levels of ID-1 in a petri dish.
"What we found was that his Cannabidiol could essentially 'turn off' the ID-1," Desprez told HuffPost. The cells stopped spreading and returned to normal.
"We likely would not have found this on our own," he added. "That's why collaboration is so essential to scientific discovery."
Desprez and McAllister first published a paper about the finding in 2007. Since then, their team has found that CBD works both in the lab and in animals. And now, they've found even more good news.
"We started by researching breast cancer," said Desprez. "But now we've found that Cannabidiol works with many kinds of aggressive cancers--brain, prostate--any kind in which these high levels of ID-1 are present."
Desprez hopes that clinical trials will begin immediately.
"We've found no toxicity in the animals we've tested, and Cannabidiol is already used in humans for a variety of other ailments," he said. Indeed, the compound is used to relieve anxiety and nausea, and, since it is non-psychoactive, does not cause the "high" associated with THC.
While marijuana advocates will surely praise the discovery, Desprez explained that it's not so easy as just lighting up.
"We used injections in the animal testing and are also testing pills," he said. "But you could never get enough Cannabidiol for it to be effective just from smoking."
Furthermore, the team has started synthesizing the compound in the lab instead of using the plant in an effort to make it more potent.
"It's a common practice," explained Desprez. "But hopefully it will also keep us clear of any obstacles while seeking approval."

i like my doc, though he wont sign my card, but he has principals and some cute nurses, so the time i spend there isnt all bad

i believe you are right-these frickin doctors are in school along time learning how to dodge questions-and now they come into the room with their computers-ass-hole doctor was on it for awhile-my guess he was on roll it up(wish he was that cool)(lol) they truly know how to dodge and pills are the fucking answer to everything-i tell the frickin doc i do not want pills-but i am prescribed shit anyways-damn i hate them-not just the doctors-all the bitches from yesterday. making a miserable situation even more miserable! i do not want to die with doctors telling me what to eat-what not to eat or drink or smoke or you have to do this make you do things you do not want to do so you can live a longer miserable life-they keep people alive for along time to rack up the $$$$$ no quality to life at all.i will die happy.(not that i am dying-but .....i will be ...thanks for everyones input. i enjoy you guys an awful lot-very entertaining-some of you guys really crack me up!!!!! need health care-maybe we should go to canada-....?????

I went in for chronic migraines, hadn't been to doc in yrs , he prescribed me some old school antidepressant that I had never heard of. Pretty dangerous stuff to be messing around w. Needless to say I didn't fill it. Keep strain searching til I find something that works

I kind of like my new pain doctor right now. He's the first one who actually listens to what I have to say, and we have discussions. My last 3 would come in the room with a laptop, nod as they "listened" to what was going on with my back, write a new script, then go to the next room.

This guy actually remembered that the last visit I told him how my kid jumped on me and just about killed me with the pain. He's always trying to come up with something new to try to fix the problem, not just mask it with opiates, which I do anyway.

I think they're running out of places to stick long needles into though! ouch.

Holy smokes, your poor hubby! That's quite a list of ailments!

The next time I'm feeling sore I'll re-read your post and be thankful for my ailments!

Its sad we all have ailments, and sicknesses and so do our Doctors there sickness is GREED.

The problem seems to be, at least for the last few years, is that doctors stopped being doctors and started being healthcare providers. A doctor got to know his/her patients, did house calls, directed the patient's healthcare with input from the patients, and got paid for their efforts (most of the time). Doctors were doctors 24/7 and if that meant staying a few min late because a patient showed up at 5pm, or taking a consult at the last min to get a patient ready for surgery, they just did it. It was what they did. If they wanted regular hours they would be family lawyers.

Too often now, physicians are more concerned about their working hours and struggles with insurance companies, they have long since been removed from the decision making process by the insurance companies and their employers (most docs used to work for themselves). You see this in medications and procedures they can or can't order, their participation in the MMMP, and the fact I can't find doctors willing to travel or work more than a couple of hours at a time. They are no longer fully engaged in patient care. They write the script and the patient leaves. They follow rules set up by non-medical folks (accountants and lawyers) to minimize their liability. They don't take the time to find out how much their prescriptions cost- writing what they want to so it looks good in the chart with no concern of whether the patient can afford the prescription.

I try not to fall into these traps, to train other doctors that they don't have to either, and in the process I take care of my patients they way they need to be cared for. Funny thing, I've been doing it this way for 30 years, and have yet to be sued. My folks got better, at least those that could get better. There is a better way to practice medicine than what I am seeing patients are relating in this thread.
