Measuring ppf

Hi guys

I've built myself a 2 x 4 frame with 4 x 4ft f series single row strips running off a elg240 48b driver. The online calc puts me in at 42000 lumens, using the conversion factor of 69, to 800 par. Used the led build guide on led gardeners website.

Now, using my el cheapo ebay lux meter with dimmer up all the way I am reading 18,000 lux (340par) around 19" from the canopy. When I bring it to 2-3" I am getting the 40,000 lux (800par).

Surely I won't be hanging my lights a couple inches from the tops?? Seen plenty of other setups where they have a good 16 inches or more in flower. Is there something im missing

I run my strip builds @12" or less till the last 2 weeks of flower when they get raised to around 20" to finish.
20190108_192817.jpg DSCN0924.JPG DSCN0934.JPG Only diff is I'm running 8-10 2' strips on 24" x 42" frame and a HLG 240H-24B.
You'll just have to play around with it to find what best works for you in your garden.

Is that a side by side experiment you got there?

I'm just wondering if lux is anything to go by when looking for a specific par reading?

I'm making another light fixture now, just in the process of ordering the strips. Thinking 6 of the 4' strips to a hlg 320...thrown in a 2' x 4' frame. Give more lumens I can always dim if I need....opinions?

Working well for me and my BXEBs.
40-50K "Dr. Meter" LUX has given me my best results. Even down in the 20-30K range, results are satisfactory.
I care not for official accuracy of the scientific numbers. I care about bud swellage.

Also, I've had tops within inches of the diodes without any sort of negative effect, on many occasions.

Not really a true side by side, more just a comparison on spectrum enhancement.

Completing this f series build I must say I'm a bit disappointed with the output numbers. Thought it would be higher. 40-50k lux puts it 3-4 inches from the leds.

Using that calculator to convert 42000 lumens to 800 par doesn't give any helpful information other than the light will give 800 par of usable light right at the led....gives no room to get in there and work on the plants or inspect them.

At 12" from my LED's strip builds I get 600 ft candles or 60,000+ lux.
